Accidents happen.

I know, I was an F/O.
That's not an accident that is what we call a Klingon upgrade. To be fair I warn Captains not to stand in front of me on a curb. (This is all in good fun, no Captains were ever hurt by these shenanigans)

I thought the Compass flows were held until March? Is this for bidding purposes only?

The company has to post a displacement bid for someone to be bumped out of category. You cannot be displaced by an AE only bid.

Yeah, I understand there is supposed to be a second February class (2/17) of 20-30, that should be 100% SSP + Off the Street poolies.

First Compass class (1/13/14) will be held until March or April depending on whether holdbacks are 60 or 90 days - still unknown though last word was 60 days. They bid for aircraft/base via email in early January.

My info above is for the Feb 3rd class, the 20 Compass flows will be held until April or May, but we'll bid via email before Monday.

Is it common to have displacement bids during hiring and growth or is it more common in periods of stagnation? How often does a displacement bid come out per year?

any and all of the above, but I think youll see a lot of displacements now caused by fleet retirements, and re-aligning hub flying.

An Advance Entitlement award cannot create a subsequent (contingency) displacement. Only a Voluntary Displacement or a Mandatory Displacement award can create a subsequent (contingency) displacement in the category of the award.

Section 22 E.13.

13. A pilot will not be displaced during a bid period in which another pilot is converted into his category as a result of an AE.
