You can fly to the FAR's if you want to Do that. The company can't require it. If you want quality of life you will be able to have that with perhaps the exception of first year pilots. If you want more money you will have that option also. Hint, if Less work is your option get and stay senior. As a example Timbo is way senior to me but based on his own statements and monthly rant about his schedule seems to have a much lower Quality of life.

Good luck with that. No way I want to fly to the FAR's. I'm hopping we fix things like the "doesn't count" if we check in after 2200 and check out before 0200 crap, then maybe some of us won't have to fly 18 days for 71hrs. Anyway what sailing said is spot on, Rant over WELCOME to all the new hires!!!!! It really is pretty great here.

I had an early Feb interview and received my "OK to Train" email on Feb 28th. That was followed by the confusing email saying something to the effect of, "your status remains the same but it may be longer than we indicated on the previous email for your training class." I also took that to mean I am still cleared to train but the timeline given was incorrect. A buddy of mine in a Dec interview class also got the "cleared to train" the same day.

New guy reserve question. We are trying to decide if a move to domicile will make life significantly better. I know DAL does long call reserve, but I have no idea how that is applied in the real world. How does that work when you don't live in domicile?

This is my opinion as a commuter. If there is a DAL domicile you WANT to live in, then you will get back a significant chunk of your life, have less stress, and be able to make more money as a non-commuter.

You need to WANT to live there and you need to realize that smaller domiciles are in danger of being closed in the future.

For a pilot on probation Delta assigns you a short call or a trip you have 12 hours from phone call to be in position. You must answer that call with 2 hours of aasigment

IE in the middle of a reserve stretch Delta calls at 7pm you get a min of 12 hours of rest and have to be available at 7 am in your base.
