Default Updated Spreadsheet

Here is the latest spreadsheet. I have only heard of 10 OTS in the April classes, but the numbers suggest more. The Nov 4-6 interviewees have probably all been offered training dates as people in the Nov 11 pool are getting calls. Looks like definitely 3 classes in Apr (7, 14, and 21). Thanks for all of the updates.

Lol itching for the ER? Better to go narrow body, get senior, then waltz into the ER at the primo EU/west coast (and nothing but) trip level. Unless you want malaria, SVO in the winter, 5am LGA 4 leg domestic and maybe the occasional lucky CDG. JMHO. I just don't get the appeal for new hire ER enthusiasm. It's like dating a super fat chick with good genes. Yeah, there's potential down the road, but...

..but she's hot!

...and... you make a good point.

being junior is like being with the girl on the left. Every time she starts to look like the girl on the right, some dude swoops in and she gone. You're forever with before girl, never with after girl.

If you want after girl, bid the 717. Just know after girl won't let you go anywhere west of Jackson, north of Jackson, south of Jackson, east of Jackson, unless it's Newark or Panama City. But... she's after girl.

I think the latest ALPA email said 4 APR classes. Could be a typo or I could have imagined it, but I think I remember seeing that. Email in the last few days.

Based on the spreadsheet (awesome job BTW), I am expecting a training date in Aug. Due to family considerations, it would be best if I delayed until Oct. I am fully aware of the importance of seniority and starting ASAP but other factors are in play here. Does anyone know if I have the option to defer and if so for how long?

My buddy wanted to defer and they allowed him to defer only one time, to the very next class (which was less than 2 weeks later). You might be able to call and talk to someone in HR about your special circumstance.

I interviewed last week and this topic came up during a conversation with Andy Frey (he's the person who sends out class dates). He said that somebody can defer one time, but after that, it's take it or leave it. Since I'm probably looking at an Oct or later class date, but available beginning in June/July, I say DEFER!

So, what's it worth to you?
Did they happen to mention how long of a deferral you can request? 2 weeks would not be worth it for me.

As a guy who has been here at Delta 25+ years, let me tell you guys if at all possible, don't defer. My DOS from the AF was Aug 31 and my class date was Sep 12. I was called about halfway thru Aug to see if I could make the Sep 2 class. I had movers scheduled etc the first week of Sep so I said if it ment keeping the job I'd be there but I'd like to keep my original class date. Delta said that's fine so that's what I did. Those 30 numbers haunted me for at least 15 years! I missed getting into the PDX M-11 base for at least the 2 years before it closed by less than those 30 numbers.

Now I understand there can be family or other issues that can take precedence. I'm just saying weigh your options very carefully.

Denny

Anyone know if we need to have first class privileges when showing up to class or if we'll be good with a medical that is in months 6-12?
Why would you want to update your application after you've already been hired? I can see no logical reason to do this.

I'm sure you're fine as long as you show up to training with a valid first class medical. If it was a big deal to have so many months of validity, they'd advise you of the requirement.
