Don't defer! Take the first class date you can. The only conceivable thing I would even consider worth deferring for would be a funeral and possibly the birth of a first child......Even deferring for that might mean the difference of being home for the kids birthdays more often and seeing them on Christmas morning when they are 6 years old. I would rather be there Christmas morning when they are 6 than when they are born.

I can only speak for myself so take it for what it's worth. The 7ER appeals to me because I've already done domestic coast-to-coast and want to see if international is something I want to do long term. If I get displaced in six month, oh well. I also live in base and would choose to sit reserve on another fleet anyway so that isn't a big consideration.

Did they happen to mention how long of a deferral you can request? 2 weeks would not be worth it for me.
Could be worth alot! I didn't get into specifics on how long folks can defer, but my impression is that they're willing to work with you, especially considering the size of the pool right now. Probably best to figure out exactly what you need, and then either wait to receive your class date and talk then, or be proactive and let Andy know your situation so that he can plan around it. Best of luck.

Thanks for the help. See you on the line...sometime.

What's the difference between the 7ER category and the 756?

At this point, not much.

The 7er used to be 767 and 757 international. Now they are blended together.

DAL really never used the 756 terminology, I think that was United speak.

I'm the same way. When they are running more than 50 a month through class you can cost yourself a lot by waiting a month.

Do you perhaps mean 765? That's the 767-400. At one time we had a domestic 767-400 operation, 764. Then it transitioned to international, hence the 765.

And I gotta give you a big concur on the advice not to defer.

Even if it costs you a divorce. You can get a replacement wife, but you'll never get those seniority numbers back
