I'm not sure, but I'd say that the holdbacks won't be in class but they are bidding for their positions as if they were there. That's where the 79 comes from. I could be totally off base though. Just seems to be the most likely scenario.

Wow that's amazing if that class got to pick that way. Normally during hiring there are always way more vacancies than pilots in any particular class, but they only release the number of vacancies to that class by company desired fleet mix with feedback from training as to what they can handle that month. To get to bid on extra positions means everyone in the class gets unprecidented additional choices. What a great time to be getting on!

I see. So they get the seniority number as if they were in class based on ssn, or are they all senior to everyone in that 2 june class based on their ssn's among just the holdbacks?

Its as if they were in class with everyone else. There's no super seniority.
