"When I was your age..." we didn't find out what base we were going to until about the 4th week in, of a 6 week program.
They hand out the aircraft/base middle of the first day.

Based on what? Do they hand out a dream sheet first? Is it totally arbitrary, or do they ask you to submit your preferences prior to showing up, then they sort it, and award it on day 1?

Highest last-4 goes first (9999), lowest last...so pretty much arbitrary! We saw the drop in the morning and picked right after lunch. You're seated according to seniority within the class, so the picks go from the front row on back. I hear it's a bit different with holdbacks, in which case I think the drop is emailed out prior to indoc and you send your prefs in via email.

Question about the OTS Candidate Check-In Checklist that is attached to the Interview Confirmation email. There is a 'First Set' and 'Second Set' of materials to deliver upon arrival. The first set includes 'Training Records' and is not marked specifically for Military. Are the 'Training Records' just for civilian flyers or does this one apply to AF members? What exactly are the Training Records?

Thanks

I think you guys need to have a Drop Night type party!

Have each newb go up on stage, show his first 3 choices on the screen behind him...

Then show what he actually got!

T37 to Del Rio = MD 88 NYC!

Think OPR's, UPT/SOS/ACSC training Reports. I didn't give them anything else...

Just so we're on the same page, you would only have to commute to NYC, assuming that's what you got, for 1-3 months in most cases. Probably closer to 1-2 months. If you want to live in NYC fine, but I wouldn't make it the pre determined sealed fate only choice outcome at this point.

I went to indoc and then moved to SLC during the 2 weeks off before the sim. Stressful--yes and doable if you have pressing timeline. Problem is you won't know how much time you will actually have off until day 3 or 4 of indoc.
