I'd say that you'd be competitive with those times. I'm not sure how many non-121 guys they've hired.

Good luck from another former SIU guy.

You seem to have pretty good quals. The only "weakness" if you can call it that may (or may not) be coming from your 91/135 background. There is nothing wrong with that kind of flying per say, but pilots from that background tend to have less of an active network in the 121 environment.

I'd suggest leveraging your network to a greater and more active degree, and going to job/career fairs. Also make sure you have something "extra" on your resume if you can, like check pilot, safety department, standards, pro stans, etc. as well as some type of volunteer activity. Doesn't have to be a ton.

Update monthly and aggressively pursue the jobs you want. The wave has just started. You should have a pretty good chance at getting multipile calls with the times you have especially if you help yourself.

Any chance anyone in today's class wrote down the order that the jets went in?

Yes,

Don't have it in front of me though...

59 people in class, #32 had his choice of anything offered.

Question.... My family has a small footprint and we want to avoid commuting at all costs. We are willing to move to New York City and become New Yorkers for a couple of years. Would you recommend we move in between indoctrination and training? Or do we try to move after opeval and regular scheduling? Can you even do that? Or as a new hire, are you at the mercy of being the junior guy on a schedule?

Do they hand out aircraft/base assignments on the first day of class?

"When I was your age..." we didn't find out what base we were going to until about the 4th week in, of a 6 week program..of course we were all going to be 727 Engineers... so we didn't have to think about which airplane to bid.

I would wait until you are done with training. You've got enough going on with a new company and training.
