You do get the surface in Indoc. However it can't run the Indoc or Initial qual training, the surface does not run full windows. You can use some computers at the Indoc facility to complete the Indoc and systems USB stick.

I don't see how this is possible, nobody was awarded ATL 717B on the last AE and 4 ATL 717Bs bid into NYC. In fact, not sure if there were any on the previous AE but I didn't go back and check. I guess it could be some stragglers who bid over in October but hadn't trained yet.

It's senior pilots converting from previous AEs all the way back to August/September. Remember, the AE is a six month conversion window, and often senior guys will bid to convert at the end of the list.

FYI, I chose the 320. Not smart enough to fly the 88.
I was in NY 1 month reserve then holding a line in ATL.
It took me 1 month and got a line right away.
Things can change on a daily basis, but that was my experience.
October new hire. Finished OE end of December. NYC January, ATL February.
Hope it helps

How much of a pain would it be to do that? (Use their computers) Is it worth it to buy a cheapo PC?

Depends on your definition of pain. You will have plenty of free time to hang around the training center and use their machines. It just depends whether you'd rather study at work or back in your hotel room.

I bought a cheapo from the BX and chalked it up to the cost of doing business.

If you've got a Mac, they were giving out free copies of Windows 7 when I went through. You can partition and use Boot Camp (comes with your Mac). Not sure if that's still happening.

My kids needed a Windoze machine for some of their school programs, so I gave in and bought a reconditioned Lenovo laptop for about $400. Worked fine, and reminded me why I have Macs.

If you work for Delta Air Lines, resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

I am not a CPA but if you buy a computer for work I am fairly certain you can write it off as a business expense. All the captains I talk to with the high priced accountants say they write off items such as their phone and monthly cell bill, so I don't see how this is different. That said, if money is tight just buddy up with somebody in class and borrow their computer, or do it at home over the weekend (assuming you have a pc). I personally already had a laptop so it wasn't an issue, but I think you could work around it.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like getting to ATL "fast" is likely no matter what I choose. A couple of months longer in one category over another is not going to end my world. If you guys were choosing between 320 and 73N (both in ️ATL), which would you pick. I'm interested in your view in the short run versus the long term if you believe there's a difference.
