I have just been typing in the flight plan route manually. Even on a long international flight, it only takes a couple minutes to type it in. Much less hassle than seeking a wifi pocket at an airport. Wifi upload from the plane would be nice but it's not a big fuss to just type it in manually.

Remember, you don't actually need to upload the flight plan to the EFB. At a minimum, you just need to have the departure and arrival airport in it to pull up the Jepp charts. Prior to this, did you pull out the paper enroute charts and plot your route on them, every single time?

The company wants to be "Paperless", that means NO PAPER FLIGHT PLAN TO COPY IT FROM!
How are they going to do that without free wifi available at every gate, in every airport, in every country we serve?

I hear ya however I was not the one whining about it. I happily just type it in manually from the comfort of the flight deck. Others here instead choose to tumultuously roam around foreign airports looking for a wifi hot spot in order to avoid a couple minutes of manual entry.

Weren't you guys talking about productivity? When they figured out that the copilot could read and write, it was all over...... However I do remember the navigators chair in the cockpit and the astrodome that used to like to open on rotation...
