If you really want ATL, I think your best option would be the 88. It is a huge category in ATL and new hires will be leaving. 320 in ATL is a very small category, thus less movement. Sorry, no idea how long it would take to get out of NYC on the 320 (or the 88, but I would think the 88 would be a faster ticket to ATL). The timing to get from NYC320 to ATL320 is completely dependent on the AE schedule and how many guys bid off the 88/717 to the ATL320 category...no way to really tell until it happens. If you hate the 88, it is only a 1 year seat lock and you will have a much better idea where you stand after a year.

Heard a rumor (on some forum no clue which one) that classes with flow throughs get the info a week out if there are no flow throughs in the class you get it morning of.....

Just curious why we (17 Feb) haven't seen it yet.

That's correct. The first class of the month has flow throughs. The flow throughs are not present in class so you find out the drop about a week early so they can put their sections in. The middle of the month class finds out the first day of class.

It's all a crapshoot, but most have been getting to ATL in their first AE (still a 4-6 month wait). However, with a solid year of hiring it's hard to predict how many 717/88/even 737 types will move to the bus above you. There's slight movement at the bottom with moves to DTW/SLC, but the top (even FOs) is very senior. I was hired in Sep and haven't moved up, but the bottom has from 30 spots below me. I had a commutable line in Feb (Dec/Jan reserve). With all the uncertainty I'd pick the plane you want, I've never regretted picking the 320. By the end of the year the category will really grow to prepare for the 321 arrivals in '16, too.

If you want ATL, I'd recommend the 88. By far the largest category. It pays the same your first year as all the other planes, and if you don't like it, bid off after one year. I flew it for 3 plus; it's got quirks, but it's just an airplane. Some of those who denigrate it never flew it, so take everything with a grain of salt (including anything I type!). Congratulations, and welcome aboard. Delta is a great place to be, and you will enjoy coming to work!
