The ALPA survey suffers from the same sample bias but it isn't really trying to be statistically significant, it to s trying to be democratic. In other words, your vote only counts if you participate. If DPA, DALPA or anyone else really wanted to have statistically significant view of Delta pilots at a particular point in time (views change with time) they would have to select pilots at random.

My statistics education ended a long time ago so I'm not sure what a significant sample size for a population of 12,000 would be. It would be much smaller then the turnout of either survey but would yield better results

I agree. Absolutely. A scientific poll would be better and more representative of the group.

Has the MEC authorized a scientific poll yet?

TC is NOT out to improve our lives, he is out to destroy D-ALPA. It is a HUGE difference. That needs to be taken into consideration in everything that is done via his "club".
Ok, I didn't know that, sorry. I'll just take the pointed survey that I'll never see the results of and I'll skip the other one. Got it.

I figured somebody here might know. Most MEC's do Wilson Polling during Section 6 timeframes. I am supposing this time will be no different.

I haven't heard anything yet about it. I think the reps are going to be in the JFK lounge today (not positive about that) so if I see them I will ax and report back.

Oh, and don't feed the troll.

Honestly I have no idea. I think it would be foolish to NOT do some Wilson polling, but I'm not part of the "inner circle" that some are led to believe.

Good question. I'd be surprised if they have since they are not necessarily interested in statistical data. As I mentioned above, the survey sent to all pilots is democratic, not necessarily scientific. ALPA, or any representative body for that matter, is probably more concerned with how their participating constituents feel rather than how a statistically significant part of their constituency feels. That's just how democracy works.

It's possible the participation numbers of the ALPA survey will be high enough to make it both democratic and statistically significant but I doubt it. A democratic survey means those who participate are heard. If you care how your democracy represents you you would be remiss not to participate.
