You're right in that a rep needs to use his/her position to learn a lot about the issues, but that knowledge does NOT give them the right to vote however they wish. It is incumbent upon said rep to take his/her knowledge and educate the constituents and do the very best they can to persuade. If they can't persuade, they CANNOT vote against their constituents' views. Never. If they do, they're not reps.

So, Carl, since EVERY base's pilots voted in favor of C2012, why weren't you there leading the charge to recall those elected reps who voted against it?? They clearly did NOT vote the will of their pilots.

Thanks guys. You too Alan.

Just so you know, I was banned for 72 hours for teasing a moderator...by that moderator. It was definitely silly, but to APC's credit, they made it right.

But when this happens, DALPA makes sure they find a spot high up for you in the MEC administration. A line pilot that wants to "volunteer" on the MEC administration could not get the "volunteer" position you have shiznit. And THAT'S the problem. The pilots routinely toss out reps in favor of reps who say they won't be puppets, but those reps who are tossed simply find their way back to DALPA in admin positions. Is there any wonder why we have this utterly dysfunctional relationship between reps and the MEC administration?

As I've said many times before, our problem is not with our reps. Even though I strongly disagree with the behavior of some of them (like Nestor), they either do the will of their pilots or they won't last long. The problem is our MEC administration. Donatelli and his team are a tremendous disappointment. He's running things every bit as top-down as did Moak and O'Malley, and he's doing so with a team of shiznits. Sad.

Yikes PG, that's a pretty bad misreading of reality.

The reps' vote on TA2012 was to send it out to the members for a vote. Their votes were not yea or nay on the merits of TA2012.

Again, their votes were only to send it out to the members for a vote. I'm a big believer in sending everything out for memory rat.

But were it not for that huge pressure/sales campaign by the MEC administrators, I strongly believe that TA would have been voted down by the members. I can't prove that any more than you can prove otherwise, but it's very disingenuous of you to infer that TA2012 represented the will of the pilots because of the yes votes. In many cases, the yes votes represented pilots feeling they had to vote between two horrible choices.

Then you admit your reps voted against your desires. You think it should have been sent out for a member vote, and they voted against doing just that. They didn't think the members should have a right to vote on it.

Where's the outrage?

That is correct. I made it very clear to them that I think everything needs to go to memory rat and I didn't want them "protecting" me from having to vote.

See above.

I save my outrage for when it's deserved. Like what ALPA did to the TWA pilots. And for when ALPA tried to break the union of their own internal clerical workers. And when they backed the age 65 rule against the wishes of its members.

What do you save your outrage for PG?

So is Shiznet the NYC rep from a few years ago who led the charge in getting Roberts voted out? Then the NYC pilots voted him out. I have noticed that guy is in an ALPA. He seems like a good dude when I have talked to him, but lying even on the Internet is not cool.
