Do you mean the regionals that have to cancel flights because they can't crew the airplanes they already have?

You're not serious are you? The EMB 190 is vastly superior to "new hire" aircraft of the past, and to a certain degree the present. B-727 S/O, F/O on the DC-9 classic not long ago, and the MD88 of current times, pale in comparison. Sure, each was fun in it's own way, but considerably more work and less comfortable. You'd have to have a serious superiority complex to turn up your nose at flying a 190 for a company of Delta's caliber. Put it another way, we don't want you if you feel that way, and good riddance. The only question is the pay, and like others, I believe that will fall in line closer to where it should be, if not clearly in B-717 territory. Obviously I'd prefer the order to be for 20 more wide bodies, but securing the 100 seat niche for the mainline is great.

That article doesn't say who is going to fly them. Just because Delta buys them doesn't mean they'll be flown by the superior hands of the double breasted hat adorned sky gods. Endeavor is a wholly owned entity that can fly them as well as some other delta minuses that could lease them to replace 2 or 3 to one for 50 seaters. That would put them back in the incapable bumbling hands of far inferior pilots who haven't been flying 90 seaters for years already. Hope we can keep that big jet from hitting other smaller aircraft on taxiways and stay on the runway at LGA. We're all in this together ladies and gents, insults are real easy to throw around. We live in glass houses. I hope Delta does put mainline pilots on them and gets great rates! That means more demand for hiring, movement, and might finally put the whipsaw regional airline management pukes out on the streets. But as for the pilots, I'd let them be my wingman any day.
Man, for the last time, if you read this thread carefully, not a single Delta pilot has said anything disparaging about regional pilots. Half of us cut our teeth at the commuters.

Delta is just ahead of the curve. All majors will follow Delta's lead over time. The regionals can't even staff what they have now and cancel flights daily. The days of the regional airline are coming to an end, which is a good thing for all pilots. In the future, new pilots will go right to a major and skip the regional part all together. Better pay and benefits right from the beginning.

Just wanted to pose a question to see what some of the guys who have been in the industry a while think. How will the staffing of the E-190 work? Particularly the CA's. With pay rates so low will guys volunteer for the upgrade? Will folks be forced to move?
