With all we have at stake are we seriously fretting about new hire hotel pay? New hire pay has more than doubled since I got here and now there is incredible upward movement, pay and profit sharing of 21%+ this year. Stick around for a few months, a crash pad won't kill you...

They pay hotel rooms for the new hire FAs. Course, they also put two to a room, and they test them every Friday. Need a 90% or better, or you leave that day. They get one free pass on being late to class, late a second time? Pack your bags. They also have a curfew while in training. Stay out late, and you're gone.

I think the pilot new hires get a better deal.

Did you know that new hires get their training pay added into the PS calculation? That should be worth at least a few hundred dollars.

I don't believe anyone is fretting. One guy said something about it. The rest of us (myself included who will be paying for my hotel or whatever very shortly) are in agreement.

Here's to a profitable 2016.

Well I guess they should have went to college.

Who?

It seem like most of the flight attendants I've talked to have college degrees. :D

...should have GONE to college. I try to suppress my inner grammar police, but when the error is in a post that points out someone's lack of education I can't stop myself.

ummm....since we are addressing grammar.... it would be most correctly stated as...." should have ATTENDED (and by implication...graduated) college"......:)

personally....I have went and gone to numerous colleges...... and I ain't been enrolled in any of them.

I have no problem getting hotels for new hires. Just because we got a bad deal doesn't mean those that follow should.

I imagine everyone agrees with you. It's just that no one is willing to give up anything for it. The company should throw that in for free.

I do like how the company talks up the Delta family during indoc.
Then when you come back for training, you're on your own. Not even an offer to crash on the couch.
Get sick? You better get a doctor's note, unless you want the evil step-father to lash you with his belt for failing to do the dishes.
But we're so glad you're here. Welcome to the family!

Stay away from the APC aircraft identification club.

Hank Kingsley 01-06-2016 11:31 AM

I'd of pitched a tent in Piedmont Park to get a job with Delta. Suck it up for a few months, you won the lottery if you're getting hired right now, heard that before. Move on.

"...ain't been enrolled in none o' them" is, I believe, the grammatical format you were seeking.... :D

Let me tell you how much Delta and CP's care about you and your family. I had a family emergency involving my 1yr old child three hours before the start of short call. The Doctor instructed me to call an ambulance and have my child taken to the closest childrens hospital. I Called the CP and he was so concerned and helpful that he removed me from short call without pay. Lost about 5hrs of pay and went to 69hrs for the month. Do you think if someone in management had a family emergency and couldn't go to work they would be docked a days pay? Hotels, why don't we start with treating people like human beings that have families. Turns out if you are based in LAX, SEA, or MSP state law requires them to use your sick leave to pay you. But if you are based in ATL Delta will be happy to save money on the back of your family emergency. I spoke with ALPA and they said contractually nothing can be done but the CP has the authority to make sure you are still paid. All of the Delta family crap is just that a bunch of propaganda. If the contract allows it they will do it.

BobZ 01-06-2016 01:58 PM

dark.....hopefully a family event of that type will never happen again but if it should....please reconsider your 'strategy' for relieving yourself of schedule obligations.

herk....im pretty sure using the words ' piedmont park' and 'suck' in the same paragraph would be considered a lifestyle micro-agression....in particular if you happen to be hanging out there in a tent. :D

hey....how about alpa using some of that $50M/year to lodge our new hires?

i know....alpa could buy the no-tell motel by the cheeta3....and when we are done with this hiring cycle....the retired pilots with no pension would have someplace to live!

iceman49 01-06-2016 02:21 PM

It's a job only, nothing more, nothing less.

TNDeltaFlyboy 01-06-2016 02:24 PM

There's an abandoned building a block north of the main campus that, I think, used to be for TechOps. It still has a few lights on and Delta signage. I walk past it to my Crashpad and every now and then I see someone open the gates and go inside.

If Delta still owns this building, it shouldn't cost very much to get it setup as a dorm-type facility for new-hire pilots. Heck, to assuage the "I did it, they should to" crowd, the company could offer deeply discounted nightly/monthly rates so it's not completely free.

Hmmmm... Just how close to the Cheetah3 is this motel? Is it within wobbling distance?

So, getting texts about rumors of a deal being done working off our opener.

Juicy.

I only require 10% truth. Start spilling.

Exactly. It's what you can do with your time off that has made it a very good job.

Here's what happened.

I got a text. Company signed off on the opener. Nothing more was said.

I would be happy with that.

And extremely entertained by the fallout on chit chat.

Not as juicy as I'd hoped. Was there any nudity?

Do you think Curly will admit he was wrong?

He sure dodged that with the E190s....

As long as management hasn't tried to adjust the opener then awesome. Otherwise, Nope!

flyallnite 01-06-2016 05:22 PM

Wow. FTB, that's a real plonker! But considering what the company has its sights set on in 2016, they are gonna be busy little beavers over in Ft. Widget. As has been mentioned ad nauseam on here, they could fart out the difference in about 6 months either way. Really going to put some pressure on SWA if that's the case.

Speaking of lottery, it's time for the game of you won the lottery, what would you buy.

I'd buy an island off the coast of Belize. And I'd buy ftb a twin otter on floats.;). You're welcome...

BobZ 01-06-2016 07:03 PM

Speaking of speaking of lotteries - I am longer concerned too much about our section 6. I have just been contacted by a reliable source (anonymous E-mail) and told that I recently won the Nigerian National lottery! This must be my lucky day since I don't even remember buying the ticket.

For bonus points what movie am I copying when I say, "With my winning I am also going to buy an Island off of Belize?"

Scoop :D

forgot to bid 01-06-2016 09:22 PM

I honestly, honestly, don't know what I would buy with a $500M lottery.... $300M in cash.

There was a time I could really dream big on that stuff and yes I'd have an airplane and so forth but none of that really interests me anymore. I'd probably buy a Cessna 206, new, and continue a charade that it didn't happen. I'd fly 1 trip a month for Delta so my kids think I have a job and then tell the rest of the family that I was good at investing and pay off their debts.

However, I know I'd buy Sandra Bullock for Timbo. And I'd buy Lance Armstrong for Curly.

That is awesome. I hope you immediately gave him your bank account info so they could deposit the money for you.

I just got a call that the I underpaid my taxes and the IRS is coming after me. I have to pay or go to jail. Also, I got a call that I have a virus on my computer and these nice people need access to my computer to remove it. I hope it works.
