To be the "best contract" out there, there are many little things we are missing or lagging on. There are a few items out of the UAL contract (outside of payrates) that we are behind on.

Deadhead (full language on chitchat)
basics - under 3 hours economy plus
- 3-8 hours 3 class airplane Business Class (if not avail First Class)
- 3-8 hours 2 class airplane First Class if not avail econ plus
- 50% override pay if in middle seat

New hires
- hotels paid for for new hires
- new hires get uniforms paid for

Company reimbursements
- company pays for dry cleaning uniform
- any CDC recommended vaccinations for flight destination company
covers
- company reimburses for Global Entry / Crewpass
- if needed to renew passport in person - company pays 1 hr
- crew meals for flights of 4 hrs
- breakfast for any report between 0001 and 0800

Reserve
- Long call pilots 13 hours (opposed to DAL's 12 hrs)
- Short call pilots get addition 2 hours pay if called out less than 1:30
- Short call pilots get addition 1 hours pay if called out less than 2:15

Vacation
- not only does UAL have a 6th week of vacation, they accrue it more
rapidly. A UAL pilot gets 5th week at 11 years of service, DAL
is 19

Pay (outside of rates)
- They have block in time defined in the contract by door open.
- Time away from base rig - 1 hr pay for 3.5 hrs TAFB (they also have
ADG like DAL.
- 764 at 777 rate. (330 should be up there too) We have too few
"top paying" positions
Some clarifications about the UAL contract:

Domestic DH is in coach unless more than 3 hours and then operating in the same duty period after the DH. This only applies if First is available. They will not bump or oversell F for this provision. International DH is Biz or better. This is required and they will oversell or bump to accommodate.

Coach DH is Econ Plus, aisle, window, then middle. If middle seat we get an extra 50% pay on top of guarantee. (so a 4 hour DH in middle gets you 2 hours of pay) Econ plus is required. We are not required to board the AC if not seated in Econ plus.

Inflight entertainment (wifi, TV) and food for purchase are reimbursed.

All these rules only apply to scheduled DH. If we deviate from a DH, we lose the protections.

Long call reserve is 12 hour to show, 13 hours to push.
The reduced short call extra pay provisions are not mandatory, the reserve can say that he will be there in 2.5 hours.

I dont think the passport pay is correct, I think it is only for Visas which require in person application.

Good luck with the contract, we are pulling for you to negotiate a fat raise by Jan 1 2018!!

Delta management complains regarding the abnormal 'sick call' spike during May. The simple solution is to use a pilots 'DOH' for yearly sick bank replenishment... problem solved.

Yeah, but since they don't, that should be leverage for us. Not something to just give away. It's their problem. We shouldn't fix it for free.

I think the whole "end of may/sick leave year" allows mgmt to focus on it as a "problem" when they want.

This is like congress and the minimum wage. In the 90's when a repub congress agreed to raise it, there was a provision to link it to inflation by the repubs at the time but it was defeated by the dems and some repubs because it's much more effective to have an "issue" to fight over periodically than to have an automatic increase take away all of your purpose.

Ual 5th week vacation is after 11yrs service.. so at the begining of annual bidding if you are going into 12th yr you will recieve 5 weeks you earned in your 11th yr.

These all seem like very reasonable requests. Why aren't they in our do-over?

They weren't talked about when the new MEC polled all pilots for what they wanted. Perhaps we as a group did not shoot high enough?
