For us, every job is precious, for the pilots' families and those who depend on them. For management it is just a variable cost item.

I think it is a throwaway as well for us. At least not one that we should spend a lot on defending. Pound for pound our leverage can be much better spent. imho. Not sure whose jobs you are referring to though. Giving 10 76s to DCI won't even be noticed here. Not one bit.

I am opposed to pay banding until we reach 5:15 per day of Pay and credit vacation.
This would offset the job loss.
Since we only asked for 4:00 per day of vacation in 2018, I am opposed to pay Banding.
Since Bastian revealed that he is returning almost $4 Billion annually to the shareholders, I oppose and concession or change that would reduce positions, jobs, staffing.

I disagree. Their model is fixable with new large jets which bring in the revenue to increase pay for pilots. Frontier, Allegiant, SkyWest and even Endeavor are doing fine for now.
Their model is mostly broken only if we hold the line. Let us give them Delta jobs.
Not a throwaway item; more valuable to us than the company.

Where does DCI go from today?

Pay banding is a DOA item 4 me.
Anything materially less than the re-opener is DOA for me.
The issue pay banding allegedly will address can just as easily be resolved with expanding the bypass pay model to the entire group.
And that solution solves managements problem.... in our favor.

I've never heard of this idea - interesting! Confirm that the pilot would "opt in" to accept bypass and it wouldn't be forced upon him (perhaps until within X months of retirement)?
