They're just hedging their bets in case of displacement. Or the "me too" clause because AAL does dual qual for new aircraft types.

When I was there, they had just got their 787 sims up and running, but still had no aircraft. They were training up guys on the 787 who would then go back to their previous aircraft and fly until the 787s showed up. Then they just had to accomplish a quick recurrent style training event and they were off to the 787.

Ready set takeoff (RST) has a 15 day program that tells you what stuff to read to get ready for the job knowledge and COG tests.

Delta doesn’t ask you questions in the HR portion to see if you know the CEO’s name or how many planes are on order, etc.

Not necessarily true. I was asked what I knew about what the company was currently up to. I answered and they asked if that was all, so I expounded a bit until they seemed happy.

This goes for any company you interview with. Always know the current affairs of the company as best you can. On top of the that other technical stuff...
