That’s because you are an Endeavor pilot, not a Delta pilot. Yes the planes and badges say Delta but hate to break it to you, we are not Delta.

People don't wear sports team lanyards because they are pretending to be athletes. It's about support. Delta sells lanyards to passengers and anyone else who wants to support their brand.

I don't care to wear Delta stuff but I don't bother too much about what other people hang around their neck. It's also funny that the same folks who want pilots at the WO to wear hats to look more like Delta get offended when they wear a Delta lanyard.

So long as we are a wholly-owned, legally we are a separate Delta employee group, we are not Delta seniority list pilots. This is why we have an SSP/EtD/DGI, Delta can't legally prevent you from applying to another position within the company, that you are qualified for. Meaning, without these programs in place, Delta would have to interview all of us first, before they could interview OTS candidates. That's the reason every wholly-owned in history had an employment agreement with the parent company, except Comair, which was involved in a legal dispute.

They might be required to allow you to apply, but they definitely don't have to interview every employee at the company before off the street candidates.

It's a form of illegal discrimination, the airline would get sued. By law they don't have to hire us, they just can't restrict the interview process.

Airlines, especially Delta, are government contractors, it is illegal discrimination against veterans for not internally hiring before the outside.
