4. How long does it take to upgrade to Captain?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
1.) We do dynamic scheduling so it’s all over the place once you hit sims. But I think you can roughly expect short side of 2 months before OE (first time you touch the jet).

2.) ATL 200: junior line was 3/21 hire. NYC 900: junior line was 5/21 hire. So 3 to 5 months for a line right now. Disclaimer: NYC slot waiver expired so we are refilling NYC rapidly so I would expect ATL to take longer to a line soon and NYC to be almost an instant line.

3.) We have 3 different plans. HRA and HSA which cost the same (I think it’s roughly 400+) for a family. The other option is like an HMO I think. 1000+ a month for a family with low deductible and co pay. Basically good if you go to the doctor a lot or having a baby.

4.) Good luck with getting an accurate answer ha. 3 years? Going to 2 years? Maybe 4+ years by the time your number is called? I upgraded around 3 years. I thi it’s going down now.

Thank you so much! Very helpful. Is ground school still organized by SSN?

1. 2-3 months. Sims are "dynamic training scheduling" You won't really know what you're doing until short notice. Don't plan on going home during sims. It basically getting you used to the company owning you. It's ok, it's good prep for reserve, where you will have no life.

2. Rapidly moving target. They're building up NYC because of the slot waiver expiring. Expect there to have more movement. We codomicile NYC, meaning you will cover JFK and LGA. It pretty much sucks, but that's NYC.

3. Around $400/mo for an HSA now. It will be going up by $70-80 this upcoming year. Expect around $475/mo plus about $50/mo if you want dental and vision. $2800 in network deductible, 20% coinsurance. Double those for out of network.

4. Moving target. Probably 2-3 years if the economy stays good, we keep hiring, Delta still likes us, etc etc etc. If your crystal ball is that good, stop being a pilot and start trading stocks.

You can most certainly go home during dynamic scheduling. I did...a lot. I compare it to LCR now. Now at the same time there were multiple flights a day but it is very possible. Also went home every weekend during ground and indoc. Highly recommended. Hit the books hard during the week and go home and enjoy life on the weekends. Which I will add is better than being Jr in base...last time you will see weekends off for a while. Been here 2 years and just started getting at least one Sat or Sunday off in a month.

I'm expecting to upgrade in the fall of 2022...that puts me at 3 years. Fall is worst case. If we keep losing avg 40 CA a month that will end up sooner. Lost 46 from oct 1 to Nov 1.

Insurance is alright. Once I got married I went to my wife's as hers was way better as a teacher than ours. There are still some things ouroffers I pay for because you're going to want that coverage just incase. But that's just for me and not her. Pilot specific things.

What is the first two weeks online like? Scheduled classes via zoom or something similar? Or more like self paced computer based training?

Question

Does probation start on Day 1 of class? Or does it start upon completion of OE?

I understand probation is one year in duration.
