As a new employee, I'm ready to deal with whatever base/aircraft that is assigned and I'll cross that bridge at the time. Someone earlier in the thread said a BOS-DTW wasn't a bad commute, and I have extended family near MSP. I realize the company can change at a whim too. Going in ready for whatever, but just trying to get as much Intel as I can. I really appreciate all the great info I'm getting from APC members.
You should get JFK 900 really fast if you don't get it out of training. As of now there is no seat lock. They are working on putting one in play but nothing as of now. Don't let the guys on here give you crap there lifers and got the double no from delta and hate the world. Have a good attitude be respectful and not a "know it all" and you'll have a great time! All the guys here for the most part are awesome and really helpful. We as well as all airlines have our few!!! Welcome

Yep, happened to us as well. Aircraft but no base until week 3. Made it tricky to get the bases we wanted, and we ended up with a lot of Detroiters and New Yorkers based in Minneapolis.

Anyways, seems like people are getting their first choice soon after training, so it isn't permanent. Welcome to all the new folks!

Latest vacancy out has 25 DTW 900 FO, 15 LGA 900 FO, and 30 DTW 200 FO slots. Those numbers change a little due to secondaries, so other bases also open up by some slots, but overall it seems like a mix for new hires between 200/900 and NYC vs DTW/MSP. Keep in mind vacancies are also running every couple months so it's possible that you may get something less desirable when you show up in training but by the time you leave for the line you are in your first choice base.

Published? Or word of mouth?

I don't think there is any published number. As far as I know we are at 36 now, and a few pages earlier it sounded like it will be at 37 sometime this month. As far as 38, 39, and beyond, anybody's best guess really.

random question, which plane is louder in the cockpit… 900 or 200? I know the avionic fans are loud in both but is there a cockpit that is louder than the other?

Above 310 knots they are both loud.

Other than that, the 900 is probably quieter since the powerplants are further from the cockpit.

They're both loud because of wind noise. Nothing to do with the engines being further back

I've flown both. The 900 is a bit louder. Mostly from the avionics fans, they are louder than on the 200.
