Can we talk about the latest EDV fast read specifically the health insurance rates for 2018 and the FA role in the rates.
" Your MEC and the Company committed to working together to explore making plan design changes to the contractual OAP, which would have offset some of the 2018 increases. AFA, the union representing the Flight Attendants, needed to join in these discussions, as the plan is the same for both work groups. Unfortunately, AFA declined to consider negotiating plan changes outside of Section 6, which will have the impact of causing additional premium increases for all employees (Pilots, Flight Attendants, and all other employees) who participate in any of the health plans next year."

Just as a reminder for CRJ200 MSP folks. If you want Delta to give you displacement benefits, leave your MSP slot in number 1, and then your first displacement choice as number 2 and so on.

*Spoiler alert* the AFA wants section 6 negotiations so they can get out of their bankruptcy contract. They're going to do whatever they have to do to recreate the exact situation the pilots had (80 leaving a month) or worse so they get either a LOA or a section 6 bargain that fixes their pay. Theyve been trying for years to unscrew the contract they signed while everyone else has some sort of bonus or retention.
We need FAs just like we need pilots or this place won't grow, and that's the only leverage the FA have. Let them try whatever they can and stop worrying about stuff you can't control. I'd hope we root for them as a labor group.
Why wouldn't you call your rep and find out?

So when is MSP200 actually closing. Based on RGs announcement I thought it was next year sometime, but the email from company makes it sound like it is immediate. Do we really know?
Somewhere between the 17-04 vacancy that is currently out (it's not closing on this one but you can bet there will be no secondary vacancies filled) and next summer. No official date has been given but if you aren't a captain in MSP now, you won't be anytime soon if ever. Might get some 900 FOs in but they are at serious risk of displacement down the road.
