In the next downturn, I could see Ed being picked up by a company that needs restructuring expertise.

According to the latest union email, July attrition was 5 CA and 7 FO with zero to Delta. At least we're growing more than shrinking, but it sure would be nice to see guys moving to Delta, since we're the defined path and all.

Didn’t Delta stop hiring for the summer? Regardless the SSP ended and the DGI hasn’t started yet so I don’t think anyone was expecting large scale movement to mainline

Yes, so when hiring resumes, the classes will be packed with Endeavor pilots.

Hopefully. I’m ETD, submitted my info a month ago and it’s been crickets. No clue if OTS interviewing now are getting a pass in front. There is no visibility to the process.

Delta cancelled the 9 July indoc class and told those pilots to expect a September class. Interviews continued through at least the end of May, and the official word on the accessions pause was at the beginning of June. Total unknown on how many CJO holders are out there right now.

The 25 July Flight Ops update said that the 3 July Advance Entitlement left 231 positions open, and those can be filled with new hires. It also indicated that it would generate over 1300 training movements. The estimate was 2-4 weeks to publish the conversion schedule. Once they sort out the flow of training for internal movement, they can forecast new hire accessions. It also said this was about an 85% solution to the summer ‘19 staffing, which seems like a lowball guess. A 15% shortfall on a pilot group of 14.5K pilots would leave Delta close to 2,200 pilots short.

Whatever the actual numbers are, it would be reasonable to resume indoc in September, with word going out in the next couple of weeks. After that, classroom and sim availability will be the drivers for how many and quickly indoc and interviews resume.

and now sort of being implemented at mainline to the great disgust of mainline pilots ( he has put the 45 day planning we have in place there over the 30 day planning they used to use, which is why they now don't plan any new hire classes for the rest of the year)

I'd be fine with the fire breaks if I kept the airplane with them.... That doesn't happen, so the breaks are worthless. My 3 hour sit turns into 5 because I now have to wait for my airplane to be released from a ground stop at the out station so I can take it home....
