The Delta bean counters have had enough time to see what the increased costs are here with the pay rate TA and may well have decided the price went up too much and are looking at a different plan now.
Time will tell but going right back to full on hiring seems like a way to try to downplay this news, Think Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House.

In one sentence you say that the bean counters have determined that the costs are too high and in your very next sentence you say that they went to full on hiring in order to hide that. If they've determined that costs are too high the last thing they would do is hire more pilots unnecessarily. Follow the facts....theres a reason they raised their hiring plans and are also looking for around 20 more sim instructors.

If an Avrogod is higher than an Avroman, what's above you?

Ugg, like Oh Em Gee, you guys. It’s not doom and gloom. The order for the CRJ9SCs are to replace delta-owned CA tail birds that Skywest fly. A couple EV ones too that are delta-owned. Nothing to see here. The biggest question I have is what the Ejet175 game plan is for us. I’m working hard to acquire some bead of info on this. Oh em gee I said bead.

I didn't say doom and gloom. I even said that OO getting replacement birds for their old 700's wasn't that big a deal. Something was clearly brewing with Compass and that fell apart. Can't say if that's good or bad for us because I don't know what the details of that were going to be. I am saying that another extension of GoJet is a bad thing for us. Our 200's are getting very tired very fast, and they have no replacement under current Delta scope because nobody is building a 50 seat jet anymore. (Delta wouldn't replace them with a prop so keep your ATR or Dash-8 comments). Even if we got the entire GoJet fleet they fly for Delta in replacement for all our 50 seaters, that's still a slight reduction for us in total airframes for us. As for the bean counter comment, well I said maybe. I don't know for sure but I do know that our costs to Delta's accounting books are now higher than with the bonus program.

We may be higher in crew costs, but I would suspect that our operating costs are lower? Well lower than GoJet or Compass anyway, and probably Republic. Skywest probably has the edge on us due to their size. But may not for long if they get a comparable contract
