yes, Im on the 200. I was just venting. It's frustrating just trying to stay motivated and keep all this info in my head with these long stretches off. The company has been awesome to me from day one. I think sim availability is the main problem right now. Im sure they have a plan, they just arent sharing it yet.

There are a number of 200 LCAs who were in the process of moving over to the 900 that have been moved back to the deuce for a few months to help cover the bump.
More of a problem is CKS. We have folks coming out of OE and sitting around on RSV and not flying nearly enough.
There is a proposal for 'Green Lines' -like FA's have, with your first month or two being awarded a normal line, then back on reserve (or; perhaps when things shake out, another line)
This takes some Union involvement, and planning, obviously. But it has been proposed.
I realize its hard to hear, but try to relax, study and enjoy the time off with Delta travel bennys.
One thing I recommend to all low time/RSV FOs is to jump seat. Ride along, follow along. The schoolhouse will arrange additional FAM rides, all you have to do is ask.

Reserve
May was pretty good with FLICA but June was back in the red which I do not understand at all. I think FLICA is manipulated which is not the purpose of FLICA. In other words, it should always be green with spots of red. Yes, a lot of crew are sitting on reserve and it is very frustrating. What good are the pay rates if you don't get to fly, drop, trade, pick up etc...New York is also very expensive and the transportation provided is not that great. What happened to the Lyft account coming?
As far as what is going on, without any announcement(s); I believe there will be a merger/buyout. It will most possibly be Republic since apparently the Compass/Go Jet deal fell through although no one is really sure. The other possible idea, and this will sound really crazy, is to fold EDV into DL and have three regionals, not wholly owned, that way. I do not think the mother ship wants to own their regionals.
We shall see. I have seen some crazy things in this business and nothing surprises me anymore. I also found the announcement of turning AUS into a mini hub. VIA Air is probably none too happy.

Don't expect the union to sign off on "green lines" as they completely ignore seniority. Rep told me that they proposed that the company can displace a lineholder off their trip, with pay, and give it to a guy that needs CKS but the company chooses not to.

As far as rumor control and leadership response goes I don't think we can complain about less than a 24 hr turn around from announcement to our leadership addressing the question. Did Skywest even find out that fast or did they hear from BL's blog on our intranet?

Great point. Disappointed we didn't get the new birds, but at least leadership addressed the issue quickly with an explanation.

Cool, more people sitting home getting paid. They can't handle the training volume they have now. They need to get more instructors, sims, and check airmen before they do any additional hiring. Currently on my 3rd 3 week sit since training started. It will be 4 months from date of hire to LOE with no failures or repeated lessons. Oh yea, and people are currently waiting a month to start IOE. Only thing that will be growing is the back up in the training pipeline.
While you are sitting at home, read the OE guide.
Hyper links take you directly to CFF/FOM/ODH.
After reading up an hour or so a day for the 4 to 6 weeks you’re sitting around, you’ll be a rockstar and breeze through OE.

Time will tell but going right back to full on hiring seems like a way to try to downplay this news, Think Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House.

The big deal isn't so much SkyWest getting a 20 plane fleet renewal. The bigger deal is that Delta is buying those planes for them. The by far biggest deal (and a really bad sign for us) is that GoJet got another contract extension. The Delta bean counters have had enough time to see what the increased costs are here with the pay rate TA and may well have decided the price went up too much and are looking at a different plan now.

There's a reason we ramped up to hiring 60 a month and are adding sim instructors as fast as possible.

If we were that expensive, over-staffing this place isn't the solution. Hiring a significant number of new sim instructors also isn't the solution.
