For those curious, Our latest vacancy award has come out. The seniority list is still a bit of a mess (March 08 hire and Dec 07 hire are next to each other) But if you look the seniority numbers and and we are 187 numbers away from 2014 hires holding captain. This does not include all of the alternates listed otherwise it is even closer. I didnt count the upgrades in this vacancy but the company said it was 75 so based on that later this year it is a real possibility 2014 hires will have the opportunity to upgrade. There are only 23 of those so if the company upgrades the numbers they hope to we will be into 2015 hires.

Well we already have a LGA and JFK base so I'm not sure where else we could have a NY base. No word on any other bases right now, only rumors. I wouldn't count on being based anywhere other than MSP, DTW, JFK or LGA anytime soon. It can take a while to get a new base going.

Take what I am saying with a grain of salt, as I do not work for 9E. Just based on what I am reading, and what I get via PMs...
Movement is faster for pretty much ALL regionals today vs. a year or six months ago. And when you add that extra movement to the fact that there were large hiring gaps, it is easy to jump 6-18 months during a bid period. If you look back a few pages in this thread (no need to read it all, just look for a seniority list post), you will see those same gaps at Endeavor.
What will your upgrade be if hired today? Well, bear in mind no one can accurately answer that, and things change a LOT in regards to that, but I'd wager you could expect not much more than two years to upgrade, then two years to hold CA before you are eligible for your DGI. Say another year in the "pool", and you could feasibly be at Delta (pending a successful interview) in 5-6 years. At the rate things are going today.

Only 6 months ago I was reading in this thread about 9E FOs with 8+ years still waiting to upgrade. So, how is it possible that it's down to 2 years in such a short time? Not calling anyone liars or trying to start flame-throwing ... I just would like a clear picture of what a reasonable expectation of upgrade might be for a new hire? I'm not in a huge hurry. 3 to 5 years would be nice. 8+, probably not.

Many FO's got royally screwed in the seniority list integration, making them 8 year FO's.
There were several years of not hiring any new hires which stagnated everything. The aggressive hiring of new hires plus CA movement to majors etc should in theory speed up upgrade.
This in no way implies that you will upgrade in 2-3 years.
