I remember living in base in an apt complex, and had this one Capt who lived across the street who would get in full dress, including his hat, on his day off..... just to walk to the mailbox.

Man, I wish we had digital phones back then....

Personally, when I see someone in a hat I think they are undermining our group by giving up our negotiating point for nothing. It may not be right, but it is how I feel, and I know a lot of others who dislike people wearing it as well.

A long time ago, when I was a new hire there, the base manager walks up and says "where's your hat"? I said, " In my closet, where all of my stupid looking hats are"
He rolled he's eyes and walked off

How are the commuting rules for Endeavor? On the profiles page it says list on 2 flights and no discipline if you don't make it? Also not sure exactly what this line means "Reserve pilots are allowed to travel to thier base during call out window on the first day Min day 4 hours" Thanks for the info!

Our "call in honest" commuter policy requires that you have two options to get to work before your report time. The two options have to be from the same airport and you have a reasonable chance to make (run to) the second one if you don't make the first.

"Min day 4 hours" should be on a line of its own on the profile - its a typo. If we work at all the minimum they pay us is 4 hours/day.

As for commuting on reserve you have the option to fly in during your callout time. For example on P2 reserve (1000-2400 availability) your callout time is 1:45. So the earliest you have to report for a flight on P2 would be 11:45 AM. Instead of having to be in base at 10 you have to be here by 11:45. Makes the difference for a lot of commuters.

I wear the hat most of the time. I wear a baseball hat a lot when I'm not working, and the brim provides a bit of shade, since I wear glasses. People can think what they want, doesn't bother me...I like it.

I'm ok if people do or don't wear the hat. What I don't understand is the "it's a military thing" argument, because like you said, hats are not worn indoors. Its a big faux pas to do so, and that gets beaten into your head. Hard custom to break.

This is the main reason I don't wear mine. It feels so awkward wearing it inside.

Yup. For so many years only the tools wore the hat. It's still usually the case today as well. With very few exceptions are "hat guys" ok to fly with.

Ok Let me understand this: A) Because I wear a hat I will not be invited to the Kool Kids Table, never much liked the Kool Kids. B) Wearing a hat undermines our contract. Ummm Ok so what should the value of a hat be? A $40/hour raise?, days off? The value of our hat policy is choice. Even if 100% of the pilot group chooses to wear a hat "The Man" does not score a win because we have the choice to not wear a hat and no one cares except the Kool Kids mocking those of us who chose to wear a hat.
