200 is more junior and with upgrades running at about 12 months. I didn't want to change AC types when going for upgrade. A lot easier to upgrade on the plane that you are already flying. I have 4800 CRJ700 hrs but have never learned the 200. So I figure it's a smart move.

You will do better day trading than figuring A/C at the moment. Don't have time for that? Ok.. The fleet right now is basically "stabilized" for the moment. The isn't a bad thing, but rather reality. Hours of flying are increasing and pilots more senior are leaving, which means movement as you know it still exists. The difference is that now you need to pick WHERE you want to be over WHAT you may be flying. It's the same type rating. The -900 pays more, but it's not much. So make your choices based on WHERE you want to be over WHAT you may be flying. The -200 and -900 now exist in all the bases so make your bid a QOL bid. The -200 in each base will likely be more junior, meaning you will hold a line sooner, so focus on base when you bid. The difference between the 2 A/C is a few weeks in differences training, meaning not a big deal. You will make more money in the paycheck with a line, which steers you to the -200. As folks gain seniority, they bid the -900, and new folks come in under you allowing you to have a line.

I wouldn't tell someone to bid the -900 until you have parity in seniority UNLESS it allows you to be based from a realistic version of home (aka- you get to drive to work instead of commuting via airplane). That's worth a boatload. Commuting sucks however you cut it. So, if you are a commuter, figure out the easiest base to commute to and bid the -200 now. If you get the -900 in base, great, but keep your home life intact. A few bucks doesn't make up for multiple days missed from "life".

FWIW, 7/25 class has 29 in it. All got NYC. 20 were awarded JFK900, and of the remaining 9, 6 were LGA200 and 3 were JFK200. Happy bidding and welcome to the club!

For the next 2 months, you can have whatever you want. As long as it's NYC.

No one knows yet. If the 200's leave NYC then they would bring more 2 class aircraft in. In that case the company would probably give you the option to move over to the 900 or whatever other 2 class aircraft we may be operating at the time.

While the equipment may change the flying in NYC is only going to continue to grow.

Also, anyone know if the early bid pack is coming out today?
