Wow i didn't know that. So basically they're just having their cake and eating it. When i was on RR there we're plenty of days where I did nothing.

Yeah, I think on all the days I sat ready (maybe 8-10) I was used twice. One day twice (which was a blast after an out and back became a five day) and another to do a repo. They like saving ready reserves for last, last, last resort.

Getting the interview, yes there are some that Delta would probably never call that get an interview with the program. As for getting hired... it's been a coin flip without rhyme or reason. If anything the success rate is better for people being called off the street than the SSP program (remember, off the street Delta selected you to interview, the SSP, they didn't) Overall, I'd call it a marketing gimmick, it's by no means a job at Delta down the road. It's simply an interview that you may or may not have been able to get sooner by other means.
I too find it unfortunate when I hear about certain good guys that didn't get the job, but often I end up hearing they lacked in terms of spending enough time preparing. And the results would have been the same if they got it through an off the street interview. Except they likely wouldn't have gotten called for the OTS interview as apps get vetted and pulled when meeting tier criteria. It is over now, and those that did not put in for it or even attempt have zero excuse to whine about it.
Quit trying to belittle or take away from those successful in the process by likening it to a "coin toss". You singing that tune is getting old. And annoying. Also, Avroman, remember preaching to FOs at the company as well as APC about how "worthless" their FO CJOs were and how Delta won't honor them? Well, the first of about 250 FO CJOs head over this month. Hope you're not too disappointed with that.

I didn't factor the DGI into my decision to come here, mostly because it IS worthless.
I came for the base I was promised by the recruiters and the money. So far the paychecks from Pinnacle are cashing, but if I see another vacancy with nothing but NYC I'm out of here.

He's not wrong. SSP is contractual; DGI is not contractual. As such, there is nothing stopping Delta from pulling the rug out from under the DGI promise at a moments notice, should they decide to go down that route.
