Only cover 1 cdo. Most cdos are in stretches of 2-3. You would need 2-3 rsv lines just to cover one sick call. Complete waste of resources
True, but the problem is the P3 tend to be swapped to daytime flying if they bid more than 2 days in a row to work... If scheduling would honor contact times (and the associated duty periods) then I would have no problem with a clause that says if you bid P3 you must have 3 day stretches minimum... That's not what we are getting here. I was looking for day one protections (no more calling a P2 on Friday to assign a 6:30 am Monday report for flying, that's what long call should be for) and no more swapping contact times around ( putting the P3 on day flying just to then call the P1 to put back to rest and fly a CDO that night because they already burned the P3 coverage the prior night)

Please, I am fairly sure your union even worked to stop this abuse of the system with the new TA. The closing of the 2 on 1 of loophole is great for the pilot group in that it will remove Sr. folks from wanting to stay on reserve get paid not to work resulting in more people flying and fewer people in the credit push giving more people more days off. It will be a better use of company money and resources by making people who get paid full time work full time. For reserve folks the extra day off will be a help, and they get that without giving up any of the guarantee. The addition of long call reserves allowing some Sr. pilots in domicile to bid reserve while putting them in a position to be a productive reserve pilot and allowing line holders to become a bit more Jr. is helpful. The reductions in ready reserve are great as that has been poor use of reserves at the expense of someones time. Longer callouts in NYC and ATL this is huge for out group. The only people who will be hurt by these changes are guys who bid reserve to game the system to try and work as little as possible while getting full pay. I am not talking about the guys who bid days off, I'm talking about the people who cheat to get paid not to work. I think our union and company has done a great job at taking steps to eliminate these abuses of our bidding system.
Then lets get rid of P3 and CDO lines all together... After all why should a CDO lineholder fly 40 hours but get paid 75??? Heck, why have guarantee at all then? Let's just get paid for actual block only... If you are a line holder bidding max days off and only block 68 hours, get 68 hours pay... If you are a reserve and only fly 5 hours.. 5 hour pay, how's that company man?

There is a difference between someone being available and willing to do the job for the company, and someone who does everything possible to not work. One is worth 75 hours the other is worthless. The company wants to make the mistake of hiring the worthless individuals a little less painful by reducing the amount they can hide from work. Yes, I do believe if you intentionally bid for a line that gives you less than 75 hours you shouldn't get the guarantee, you should get paid for what you bid. If you are a reserve guy who bids to fly and then bids anything besides last out you should get the guarantee. Some guy who bids last out, P3, last out, and 2 on 1 off has earned his actual credit and that's what he should get.

So how about CNO? Should they get paid less too?

Have you seen those lines? Those guys should get 80 hours. A CNO is the worst of both the worlds. You get some set flying you can't swap and a whole bunch of reserve. Why anyone would bid that I don't know, and obviously the company finds it useful.

If you're stuck on reserve otherwise, its not bad. An extra day off and every period of days is commutable. If you can hold CDO's, there's no reason to bid CNO, unless you need the 3 GDO, but otherwise, if your options are non-commutable P1 versus CNO, I know which route I go.
