I can't speak for the Mec or the company. What can be said is that the company is optimistic in numbers, the Mec is conservative in numbers, and in the end folks look at numbers a bit differently. 17 lines is the pure revenue for the company, 21 planes is where the staffing comes from. Who will say what? Company- 17 lines of flying, union 21 planes. DL paid for 36 refurbs, without any factual evidence that would be the number of airframes desired. I do know hours are being turned away due to staffing by pretty much all the dci's, so it comes down to who can staff what right now.

Any idea what happens with those "turned away" hours?

As a reserve almost all of my assignments this month have been related to "we picked something up from XYZ Regional."

Just curious what happens to the DL/DCI when marketing hours can't be flown but passengers have bought tickets.

And why should once DCI carrier cover another DCI carrier's flights? "We will underbid all these flights and win the contract. Then, when we can't properly staff our awarded flying, all the other DCI carriers will do it for us."

You say that like we as pilots have a choice? It would help If pilots would go to an airline with the best contract and stop making lateral moves

I don't know why other dci are not able to fly. I am guessing staffing?
Since April we have flown almost 300 flights for other dci carriers. The bulk being compass and shuttle flights.

Not to beat a dead horse but I will be starting class next month and want the DTW base. Does anyone have a suggestion 200 vs 900 to get the base? Also how is QOL between the two there?

200 or 900 you can hold both in dtw as a new guy.
200 will have more movement.

It would only be to satisfy my ego of saying I made it as a Delta pilot, which is not really a good reason. Other pilots who really need the job should get it in my place.

I'm in the market for an airplane, so I need to get my logbook in order for insurance.
