But those guys in recruiting are still line guys and not personally financially benefiting from doing so.
Again the issue that MOST of us have is with being allowed to video Envoy flights and then making money from his YouTube and personal websites with that video THAT NO ONE ELSE is allowed to do.
The irony of this is that besides THKoolAid and Swayne, MOST people now won’t even admit to working at Envoy on social media so don’t even WANT to take any pictures or video lest someone ever be offended and run afoul of the company. It doesn’t matter if you ever say something good, but say one little thing that may offend someone or anything negative and you risk losing your job.

Is it fair? Not necessarily.
Is it a contractual violation? No.

Why can't you wrap your head around this? Envoy does not have to give every pilot the same opportunity when it comes to stuff outside of line flying? If my airline wants me to hire me as a photographer, my boilerplate contract would still give me the right to make money with the photos.

Ok I’m a line guy and I want to record some flying for my personal vlog. Will they let me do it without his name?

You can't just pick and choose who you let break the rules. If Envoy want promotional material they can pay for a professional company to do it.
It's like saying a pilot can use their laptop during cruise but only because they are writing a novel about the history of Envoy which they later sell to a publisher.

You missed the point. Envoy let's Swayne use company time to record content and use that content to make money through a third party not related to Envoy. Envoy only let him do it for free PR.

This is true. An FOM violation is still a violation with company approval to violate.

They can pick and choose as much as they want, as long as CBA does not restrict them.

Where am I going with this? I can’t wait for the new “must see” Swayne video when American inevitably files.
