Left seat, yes. Right seat, about 90 days according to what is posted on here.

Skywest's Delta flying is expanding out west, now would be the time to do it.

Anybody hear anything on the new pay? Specifically, has there been a decision on whether the company will issue backpay, or the 30-hour buy-out or whatever it was?

Been awful quiet out there.

Regionals aren't majors. There is no reason to uproot your life and move across the country just to work at a different one. They're all just regionals.

If you do come here. Don't act surprised when you end up on reserve in New York City at Envoy. That's exactly what this airline is offering right now, it's no secret. This is an east coast/midwest airline. You won't see LAX or SLC even once here. Probably not anything west of Texas unless you upgrade on the 175, even then just turns.

Jeez you have gotten really jaded dude, how the hell do you know that SKW has better training, did you go through their AQP program, similar to what we have??

And to sit here and say LGA is the only thing he/she will get is also NOT guarantee. How many 175 DFW/ORD or all 145 ORD classes have been offered as of late throughout the year. You must be 145 LGA, I get that it’s rough but cmon man nobody on the line is that jaded.

This is really getting out of hand, don’t say “you’ll never see anything west of Texas” when we fly to Santa Barbra, CA. Why you come on here and blast this place is starting to make me wonder why, especially knowing that the more people come here the faster every one flows. Think about that too.

To some of your points.

Skywest has an amazing training program, longer and much more in depth in aerodynamics and systems. Does it produce a better, safer pilot, eh that's questionable, but their training is top tier.

As for LGA, well the odds are certainly in the favor of that and if you warn people about it from the start, they won't be disappointed if they get something better. The company likes to flash the 175 around like its a forgone conclusion for new hires, but if you are not a cadet the odds go done a lot. Sure you could get lucky and land in a class that has nothing but that, but you may not either.

Yeah we fly to CA now out of DFW, but those trips almost without fail end up in the hands of the super senior folks as they are high time day trips. Does that mean a new hire won't get them, no, but again the odds are not in their favor.

Nothing at all in fact. Hell we went almost a week without a single post on here after the AIP lol. Pretty sure they have until the end of September to get it sorted so I wouldn't worry yet. If history means anything, they won't pony up until the very last moment they have too. If it was me, I would pay up now and boost morale of the people that get my customers through the busiest summer travel season in history.

Skywest has a notoriously GREAT training department. Even the majors know this.

Do you work here? They are INVOLUNTARILY DISPLACING 145 FO/CA from ORD to LGA. All new hires on the 145 are going to LGA. I'm on the 175, but unlike my peers I pay attention to whats happening to the other 65% of the airline.

Like mentioned above, he's not a cadet, not old, no prior 121.. his chances of being on the 175 are about 3%. Even if he did get it, he will fly those turns once in a blue moon when the original FO calls out sick.

See above,.

I prefaced it with the "don't be surprised when you end up on the 1145 in New York", because that seems to shock some people when they come here.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means

I’m know OO has a great training program, but are they still doing single occupancy hotels for their training?

Honestly, Envoy has AQP training, and that alone sets it apart from a lot of other regionals. AQP makes a huge difference, and I’m surprised it’s not talked about more on APC.

I didn’t have any trouble with training here at Eagle and I don’t think we have a bad training department here, especially compared to most regionals. Sure, some PSIs are not the best, but that comes with the territory. Anyone who’s had Mark as a teacher knows what a walking encyclopedia looks like.

I thought Skywest was a double occupancy room. Perhaps they have changed that policy. As for our training, it clearly is adequate as we dont seem to be having any greater number of issues than anyone else, however I still attest that Skywest has much more in-depth training in terms of aerodynamics and systems.

And IFR, flying a jet, 121..

Skywest's training isn't just better than Envoy's, it's better than most of the industry.

I'm not a fan of the Utah Air Force, but they are incredibly good at taking a 172 CFI and turning them into an asset in the right seat. Envoy is more of a; 'If you study hard you won't fail the check ride, but you still might not know what you're doing' type training. Even mainline AA captains have told me they heard Envoy's training is below average.
