Skywest's training isn't just better than Envoy's, it's better than most of the industry.

I'm not a fan of the Utah Air Force, but they are incredibly good at taking a 172 CFI and turning them into an asset in the right seat. Envoy is more of a; 'If you study hard you won't fail the check ride, but you still might not know what you're doing' type training. Even mainline AA captains have told me they heard Envoy's training is below average.

It’s the same tests and questions every year for recurrent here at Envoy.

As much as I hate recurrents, tests, checkrides,I wish it was a little but more in depth in regards to systems knowledge and overall aircraft knowledge as well.

Tell me what I don’t know and an alternate means of saving my butt and crew in emergency/abnormal/non emergency situations as well.

Of course knowing my limitations is of utmost importance, but after just completing recurrent not too long ago, I kinda was left wanting more.

Did I mention, I HATE studying? 😂

Honestly, Envoy has AQP training, and that alone sets it apart from a lot of other regionals. AQP makes a huge difference, and I’m surprised it’s not talked about more on APC.

I didn’t have any trouble with training here at Eagle and I don’t think we have a bad training department here, especially compared to most regionals. Sure, some PSIs are not the best, but that comes with the territory. Anyone who’s had Mark as a teacher knows what a walking encyclopedia looks like.
Mark is an EXCEPTIONAL instructor by any standard. And he is just that at Envoy. An exception. My experience with PSIs is more miss than hit.

I agree, Mark gets a lot of flack because of his personality sometimes, but he is a great teacher. The sad thing is that it is so hit or miss if you get him.

Not true any more. They've added a lot of the turns to normal lines, and SBA overnights aren't that senior.
The 10 or so day trip lines go ultra senior, but almost every 175 FO gets to do CA flying.
I've got a few long SBA overnights next month.

I'm not saying CA flying is anything special, but an average FO definitely gets to see that state.

Interesting and good to know, I stand corrected.

You inadvertently added "et in the right seat" to the end of your sentence.

Ive been through both OO CRJ and Eagle ERJ145 Training (2003). I would say OO instructors were better. But honestly both were good.. Eagle reserve and jr line was way worse....

Does anyone know if there is a limit in how much you can spend getting your uniform tailored? I finally got around to exchanging the first one I received cause it was too small now the new one I got is way to big mind you I just went the next size up.

I look like a friggin clown with this new uniform on. Just need the supersized shoes.
