New base definitely would. But a far-fetched rumor won't do that.

I think that you are spot on in that assessment

back in January after the bid award, a friend of mine checked the top 10 fo's *7 in each seat/equipment and he didn't find anybody with over 950 hours without being awarded the upgrade.

I know there are several claims that there were qualified people who were not displaced, but I have been skeptical as well. Partly because hiring DECs requires a standing bid and what I have said before about paying for DECs if they already have people qualified that could be displaced.

The company knows better than anyone how many are qualified when they have a vacancy. There may be a few more DECs that are in the process and get hired, but I doubt we will see many more.

I also think that we are going to see another wild swing in offerings on the bid. Just like we have seen in hiring. Classes of all 175 and then classes of all 145. If you think you can wait and out guess the system, you WILL get Envoyed.

While I do think there would be a significant group that would be attracted by a LAX base, I still have my doubts. I wouldn’t hold my breath or make any plans for it happening.

Disclaimer: Like everyone else. My comments are worth what you pay for them and past performance isn’t necessarily indicative of the future.

There were 10 FOs with enough hours that did not upgrade last round.

What is your source for this information? Do you know that those ten people had the 950 hours BEFORE the bid closed? Do you know their circumstances? Pretty sure if you had an unsat in recurrent you could not immediately upgrade.

If there were people who were not “15 G 4’d” that should have been and someone senior was, there would have been a grievance.

If you have deep DECS it’s easy enough to look at people’s quals.

You may be right, but it would mean they had enough FOs preference bid.

And it has occured to me that perhaps the company let 10 FOs escape the 15 G 4 last time to get FOs who want to upgrade but are playing the displacement game to simply preference bid in the future.
