I thought so too, but then I saw PSA in DFW and Piedmont in ORD, and everyone over there thought they were gonna get new bases. PHX would be nice though I could play more golf.

This would make too many people happy therefore it will never happen

True, but you have to balance that with how many the ‘Voy can make UNhappy by displacing people west, so it could still be a thing...

Base is not a function of departures a day, it depends on number of planes overnighting. I haven't looked but I think we have 0 in PHX.

So there are crews overnighting but not planes?

Just asking. I think an Envoy PHX base is just as unlikely as the LAX.

We aren’t flying 175s at all to MIA until the base opens next month. None of the numbers matter, what matters is what the bean counters want.

Also our daily flights in PHX top out around 9 next month, almost as many as our ORD 175 departures. 🙃

Not sure what you mean by the MIA comment, there are a bunch of overnighting planes in MIA in April.

With our current schedule, ORD 175 would not be a base. Closing down a base has a cost so everyone hopes it will pick back up.
But it is better as a base than PHX with 9 daily departures. To open a base, you need planes overnighting there. I dont think we have any (or at least many) in PHX.

disclaimer, it’s not happening

Just a word to the wise from a former Eagle guy—don’t ever think they wouldn’t do something like that (not saying you are). I remember when the CRJ was new, they moved them all to ORD. Then later, moved them back to DFW. I was displaced as a result. It can and has happened.
