I have an interview with Envoy coming up

Please don't come to Eagle. You have a total of 4 posts and you have already reached "tool" level on the troll scale.

Ya don't come here, as you can tell we already have too many "tools" and the tool box is overflowing.....!

But I would think if Envoy is losing more pilots than it is replacing (and I'd expect this trend would continue if not get worse) wouldn't upgrade times go down in the coming years? I assume most people leaving are captains and they need to be replaced. So more FO's get upgraded and new hires like myself would see shorter upgrade times. Right??

You would think, but the 140s are being retired at a pace to match attrition, or so it seems. Vacancy bids (captain upgrades) are few and far in between creating a kind of stagnation through shrinking of the EMB fleet and metering of the flow to AA.

So for now, no. In the future, maybe.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Don't count out Envoy. It was only 3 or 4 years ago that Mesa's stock was, literally, at 1 cent. These boards reported that you actually had to wait in line at the Mesa CP's office to quit because there were so many quitting, Mesa's planes were dirty and worn, US Air was dissatisfied, and Mesa pilots were miserable. Fast forward 4 years, and now Mesa is the place to go!

Eagle/Envoy, on the other hand, has always produced a good product, training and facilities are top notch, and but for stagnation the pilots are generally happy going to work. A large airplane placement (a la Compass and Mesa) will go a long way to turn around doom and gloom. Although it may be a couple of years.

LMAO!!!! This is the best post I have read yet!! I am in total shock at the way you folks treat each other let alone work together and try to fly an aircraft in a safe manner. I was just invited to an interview at Envoy and I think I rather jump out a FU*KING window then come work here.....

Huh? I thought his "thread dive" pic was funny, so I told him. Not really seeing a single way your response makes any sense...

Anyway, I guess I won't get to fly with you now. Good luck with your career.

It may be an upopular opinion but I have a good feeling about Envoy. People on here preach doom and gloom but my friends that work there are happy. And I think that things will get better there soon. Don't accuse me of sipping kool aid... Or do, whatever. But an interviewer told me management was trying to scare off the high paid guys and they were told to hire a bunch. Could it be a good bet? I dunno. Still haven't committed and trying to figure out where to go.

In order to upgrade a FO you need a new hire to replace him. We are not getting new hires nor are a lot of vacancies coming out. Also most attrition now is from senior FOs, the majority of captains leaving are solely from the flow to AA.

I actually think you are right. I am one of the rare optimists here (cautiously optimistic), take it for what it's worth. Another tidbit the pessimists forget to mention: yes, we currently have a 7 year upgrade, but if we can ever get to the '08 hires, upgrade times will jump down about 2 years (we didn't hire for a roughly two-year gap from '08 to '10). Also we're losing a lot of Captains, United and Delta are just ramping up hiring, so who knows. We may or may not reach a deal, but they still need the regional feed, or they wouldn't be back talking to us.
