Do I feel bad for the guy hell no. But if I was him I would make sure I wasn't going to get the CRJ and be stuck in ORD for a LONG time with no chance of getting back to DFW.
Thank you. I HOPE NOT TO GET STUCK in CRJ. Not here for pitty part, just some answers and perspectives from current Envoy guys/gals.

Very much appreciate the positive feedbacks from everyone both pros and cons! Great group, learning a lot. Please keep it going. I have big career decisions to make. Each post has helped in some way.

Thanks all.

My thing is, if I'm gonna commute, I gotta live in the here and now, so I'll have to commute for more money. I realize now a lot of the negativity at this outfit, may be because it was well earned.
Exactly. Same sentiments. Thanks for all the perspectives. Big decisons to make.

You sound insulting, and demeaning. You don't know me or my background in aviaton. You don't know the other poster that mis-spelled a fee words either. I understood his words and point which was the bigger picture. Not a big deal family.

Thanks for advise nontheless. MESA IS NOT AN OPTION. Sure call me a millennial. I guess i could be an old millennial, or begining of that generation. Sure call me entittled since I don't want to settle, like many have in the past for low pay-wages, and poor QOL (i'm not the only one. Sure call us entittled for demanding better). Many chose to interview for certain reasons & now those reasons are gone... Sure I like Envoy and will still consider Envoy.

I DO NOT WANT TO BE A VICTIM, OR MY FAMILY TO BE A VICTIM OF GUN VIOLENCE. FAMILY SAFTY IS IMPORTANT. COST OF LIVING IN CHICAGO IS ALSO HIGH.

No more extra $7K bonus for ORD like others got bothers me also. ENVOY is not offering Endevor/Republic NYC like pay for a high cost of living area either. So I'll be forced to have to consider commuting. I can't plan ahead and won't know how long i'll have to commute.

I know how the industry works. I understand base closures and company needs very very well. I've followed this industry (both regionals and majors) since 2000.

I hope we can all be professionals, mature, and respectful to each other here. Thanks sir.

You are making good observations. Let me recommend that you do not come to Envoy at this time. The company has changed into something almost you cannot recognize from 6 years ago. The treatment of pilots is bad, very bad. It is hard to understand why they are treated bad when they are needed so much now.

I would give consideration to another regional. Endeavor or Compass or Skywest. Things are in the toilet at Envoy.

...you asked for the "truth" and advise, so I gave you my "opinion" without sugar coating it.

nothing advertised is 100%, if you believe otherwise, you're in for decades of disappointment!

I'm not pro company/union but I've been working here for 10 years and have no reason/s to complain.

being a regional pilot is not how I want to end my career but I've been happy here, i ignore the "issues" that are out of my control!

I was told as a new hire that:

*upgrade was 4 years
*saabs will not be parked
*LAX/LGA/JFK bases will not close

I, like the majority of crews commute but STILL - I continue to report for duty day in and day out without complaining because this is the profession I chose for myself

If AA/DL/UA all offered you a dfw base but two weeks later reassign you to their NY/NJ bases due to growth, what will you do then? call them liars? walk out of class?

Many of our FOs live in Chicago. Is not as expensive as LA, NY, Miami. Actually you can get an apt under $1,000 close to the blue line.

If you want to live in downtown then it's a different story pricewise. You don't need a car, and going to the airport and back is about $50-60 a month.

Many of us did live in ORD at $25/hr and no $15k bonus to supplement us. It can be done, just have to be smart.

My sister was living in NY when I was in Chicago. She paid $1,700 for a studio. I paid $1,100 for a 2 bed apartment with electricity, water, gas and washer/dryer in unit included.

Living in a base that you can take a train to work, is a pretty sweet deal. It will save you both time and money. Also get a bike to get around locally and for exercise. The gun violence is less of an issue around O'Hare airport I think. There are some pretty nice neighborhoods surrounding the airport that are pretty inexpensive. I have heard of single bedrooms near the airport for around $800

Did all that happen within 2 weeks?

I get more than you think, I am at another Regional now.

I was just using Forum to put some information out to others who might be in the same situation.

There is no GUN VIOLENCE in Chicago. It is PEOPLE VIOLENCE. Speaking as a retired police officer who lost very close friends in the line of duty, I never once saw a VIOLENT GUN.

"Attention all units, I'm in pursuit of a violent gun. Send cover code-3!"

You might not want to be DFW based with your anti-gun rhetoric. Wake up people.

Thanks all.

Let's say this, it's been over a year since I've been able to bid DFW 145. It all depends on their staffing and where they need to shuffle the deck of cards. My guess is that since they've been letting new hires classes pick DFW, the stream of replacements to ORD is just as thin. So I would expect new hire classes to be going to ORD for the same amount of time. Maybe a year until they start having DFW optional?

There is no requirement to stay in a base before transfer. However, to go from type to type there is, but that's for captains. FO cannot bid jet to jet unless displaced.

As the professional that you proclaim to be, I would expect you to know the difference between "their" and "they're". Since I don't know anything else about you, at least give everyone here a good first impression by using proper English grammar . . . remember that the back of your FAA license states that you're supposed to be English proficient
