things constantly change and it's difficult to pin down what kind of schedule you will have on reserve.

there will be times that you will be called for a turn, a two day trip or more but when you return to base, you will be extended for the days you are available on reserve. It's not uncommon but the dynamic constantly changes depending on line holder availability. ie: misconnections, crew sick, late arrival or broken ac at an outstation.

picking up OT on your days off will be difficult since you will be most likely be on reserve for six days straight.
Thanks, appreciate it.

The biggest problem right now is the way the company is building sequences. Back in the better old days, even many of the four day trips would have later starts on the first day, and early returns on the last day, making them commutable. As time has gone on, less and less of the four days have been commutable, or are only commutable on one end, requiring you to come in a day early, or go back home the day after the sequence. The two days off between sequences is absolutely ridiculous.

The problem with our trip trade system is that it is governed by a green/red/redder staffing level. The trip trade will only be approved if you are trying to trade for a trip that is on days with equal or worse staffing. In addition, you can only trade four day trips for other four day trips. I'll tell you right now that trip drops won't be approved because of staffing.

You'll fly a lot, just not credit a lot

Yes. It means your flying a lot of short legs. 10-12 legs 4 day trips for an average of 15-18hrs total.

Before we had 4 days worth of 22ish hrs. 3 day trips worth 18hrs.

Ok, I see... Basically you work a lot with low credit and low flight time...

JM's like crazy this weekend. Seems they are now illegally assigning JM's out of order. They must first go through all reserves in all bases, volunteers, etc..... before Crew Sched. assigns JM's. Once again the contract is being violated to prop up the operation. This place makes my brain hurt.

If we want to retain pilots and not have to hire/train pilots, we need to stop spinning our wheels with stupid things like "not following the contract".
