...unfortunate that you didn't get
your preferred base/equipment but being based in ny is not that bad. you'll be working with great laid back and easy going captains. also, the agents and ground crews there are nice.

no one will micro manage and breathe down your neck being in a small base, just ask how they use to operate in San Juan!

...you'll enjoy the expressway visual and rwy 22 circle to 13 approaches.

enjoy!!!

We were told this morning that LGA is going from 3 planned aircraft to at least 6 and maybe even more. Also, that we now have half of the planned first officers for the base. I wasn't thrilled about getting LGA, but I will hold a line much quicker than if on the CRJ in ORD. I can only hope that LGA will continue to grow as far as lines and aircraft go.

With the amount of movement we are having, you will most like be able to hold whatever base you want in no time. You even have a good chance of holding it before you finish training.

Is the plan for the CRJ to still get parked or is that on hold? I had heard they are sending them to PSA starting in April?

I have no doubt that LGA will make me a better pilot. I'm committed to enjoy the ride and when the time comes, I can always bid out to another base. I'm happy to be on property and to have started the journey.

I think the 27 of us who got it are all excited to see what routes will be coming our way. I know they're a loss for another carrier, but we're happy to pick them up and fly them too.

PSA hasn't been able to staff them so we have kept them. PSA is hiring more now so maybe they will start taking them or maybe they won't. The stated plan is to transfer the planes to PSA.

Yes, a big vacancy bid is forthcoming. It should get the upgrade time down towards the end of 2011 hires. Once the upgrades pass 2011 hires, that's when the upgrade time will plummet. We have only SIX guys on the seniority list that were hired in 2012. And there are only 60-65 guys that were hired in 2013. By this time next year, upgrade time will have no problem getting down to around 3 years or less.

46 new hires started today. (Dec. 19). Not sure what the specifics were on aircraft and base assignment. I think around 10 to 14 e175, a few CRJ and all the rest LGA 145. Sounds like you can hold any base after 8months. That 8months is including the time that you in training.
