Very bold statements. They play perfectly into a pilots fear of the challenge of a 121 training environment. Have guys failed, yes. Do they "fail guys on purpose." I don't believe so.

Bottom line, to succeed in a 121 training environment (especially as a ~1,000 hour CFI, or ~500 hour helicopter pilot with no prior 121) you have to work VERY HARD. Unfortunately, not everyone is cut out to be a airline pilot. That's the brutal truth. That said, I am a firm believer that anyone who sets a goal and works tirelessly to get there will succeed. Anyone could pass 121 training anywhere, they just have to apply themselves 100-percent.

There was actually a lawsuit against TSA back in the mid 1990's about this. They had an "up or out" policy and would use two busts to get rid of pilots who irritated management. My brother was actually called as a witness. It is my understanding that the outcome was that anyone terminated due to two check ride busts was given the opportunity to come back and go through training/check ride with an ALPA observer.

Interesting. Yeah, I'm sure anyone who ****es management off bad enough will eventually get the can one way or another... Generally not a good idea to become "that guy." Shouldn't be that way, but unfortunately it is (probably not just at TSA).

Annoying management could be something as grevious as interviewing elsewhere. They figured having two busts and termination would not help your future endeavors.

Default ExpressJet vs. Envoy Air

ExpressJet has IAH...close to my home. Potential United interview (someone honestly cue in on that...is there movement from EV to UA?)
Great work rules. They seem to take care of their people.
I don’t know about upgrades. A recruiter told me just go to EV...sit FO and get 1,000 HRS 121 time then go to UA. He has no plans to upgrade because he sees no reason. That’s from an XJT-FO recruiter.

Envoy’s DFW is an option. More movement upgrade wise. The flow. Again...someone honestly tell me about ENY upgrades and flows to AA.
Are the work rules good?

Honest opinions on the two are appreciated. Everyone tells me Envoy for the flow and not to worry about college.
XJT to UA I feel like I need a degree.
ENY to AA I don’t.
Please help.

Don’t go to a United Express carrier. None of them, not Trans States, CommutAir or ExpressJet. Unless you enjoy a nice daily golden shower. If you want pay, go to Endeavor. If you want career progression, go to an AA wholly owned. If you want to get urinated on, go to an UAX carrier.

This is so stupid. Do you guys do any research? The flow to AA is like 8+ years now. You can go to online school and knockout the degree in a year or two so you don’t have to go to Envoy for almost a decade and actually learn something.

That’s good IAH is close. Makes it a whole nother job. The career pathway program (please don’t call it a flow, it’s far from it) is BS. It has the opportunity to get very senior guys and the lucky handful of FOs out to UA for the final decade or less of their life as a pilot, but I wouldn’t count on it for new hires.

Yes, we have a great contract that the company constantly tries to violate. It’s a good contract but it has become more of the norm around the industry. The company likes to tout that it is industry leading. And it was. In 2004. Now it’s pretty standard. As far as treated well...gotta be honest I almost spit my drink out in laughter.

That recruiter told you he doesn’t need to upgrade because he doesn’t. He makes plenty being a recruiter. Good QOL and will move on when he has to. That “just get your 1000 FO and go to UA” is ridiculous. I have 3000 with the company, it doesn’t matter. And yes, you need a four year degree for the CPP.

Envoy has two year upgrade and thats pretty steadfast, but it’s an 8 year flow. Not the 6 they advertise to AA.

My advice...go to Envoy. You’re hurting more than yourself by coming to XJT. Hope that helps.
