Just reference the republic base announcement for IAH. Whipsaw continues.
Generally speaking, a “whipsaw” involves bringing in a lower paying subsidiary to compete with a higher paying one.

Not sure you can make an argument that bringing Republic into IAH meets that criteria.

You have a lot to learn about airline contracts. There is a lot more to an airline than just hourly rates and equipment.

If you would really pick one airline over another simply because their 50-seater is "better", you may be a lost cause

As a whole , you might still be able to make that argument. If the XJT crew consists of a 20-year CA flying with a 9-year FO, and they’re moving 50 people each segment versus a Republic 4-year CA and first-year FO moving 76 people.
There’s more to the whipsaw than just pay. The NEW whipsaw uses pay (and upgrade) as bait. I’m sure that if these places ever got congested with senior pilots who get paid more and fly less.....they would start losing contracts and pilots to other regionals. XJT got to be too attractive as a place to stay......and has been suffering for years as a result.

We might have lower pay but our CPAs might be getting underbid by republic and others. Simply due to the fact that our longevity is off the charts. And of course we have a defined contribution plan and vacation touch requiring more pilots for same amount of flying. But everybody should have that stuff. Pay up or close the doors.

Exactly! I am miffed by this logic. Trans States > AWAC because of the 145??? I refuse to waste more time on this nonsense. Good luck with your decision OP. Have fun flying practically the same airplane for much less.

Yeah, aside from the pay rate what you fly doesn’t matter for the most part. I mean don’t get me wrong. I’ve got my favorite aircraft. But -200, -700, ERJ... no one cares when you’re trying to move on.

I’ve flown both (3000+hrs each). If i was only going to fly at a regional for 1-3 years. I would prefer the E145. 5+ i would go CRJ... E145 is better to hand fly and land. CRJ is more rigged.. built better. But annoying to fly with the annoying quirks.. (thats not factoring in any 700/900 flying)
