I've been at the training center in IAH all week. While pilots are leaving in pretty significant numbers and new FOs will always be needed, after what I've heard and seen, the 175 thing is still a long ways away if at all. It's a mixed box of feelings out there. About 20 were scheduled to head up to STL for training last week and it was canceled last minute along with another flight attendant furlough notice.
You can read between the lines but if anything is going to happen, the benefits to anyone other than a 30 year guy will be many years down the road.

I agree, though, that initially, the 175 will go to the senior ASA folk. IF we are owned by UA, Mesa has 175's up for renewal next year, and Management has stated we will be going after those as well.
It'll be an interesting next 60 days or so, regardless of which way the pendulum swings....

again, no ink has been signed and no announcements have been made, so embraer isn't going to pay the bill for instructors to be trained until that happens.

So my point is, without the ability to genuinely and organically attract FOs, there cannot be growth. Growth is required for both QOL and pay. When upgrades are around the 17 year mark, it’s really tough to gauge when the good times will be. I’d love nothing more than for this place to turn around. In order to do so, a completely new culture will need to prevail.

I get you. Myt comment is directed towards an XJT only scenario. XJT nets around 3 new hires per month. This is straight from the training center. Right now they have a class with 1 guy. Pretty sad. The company is doing absolutely nothing to attract guys. I honestly wish this was by choice but after being here for 12 years, I firmly believe it’s mainly the residual culture of a management that feels they shouldn’t have to provide incentives and that it should just be cool enough that you get to fly a jet.

Xjet is going to have a hard enough time handling bringing on 20-25 new Ejets next year - as a new plane on the certificate. I smirk when Xjet management or their union seem to try to “sell” to their pilot base that they can handle even more than that. Mesa will have ink on our CPA renewal long before Xjet even flies their first 175. The birds Mesa should worry about are the CRJ700’s in IAD.

I think recruiting is essentially at a standstill until things start happening. This is apparently also the reason why a higher signing bonus hasn’t already been implemented. That money will attract a better applicant post-announcement than it would now.

On a side note, have you noticed on the performance page that we cancel 8-10 flights a day now due to no crew? Great job lol.

According to actual recruiters, they are out working hard every day. They too are also lost by why no the signing bonus hasn’t been upped. Not to mention, why hasn’t there been a decent retention bonus for those on property? If growth is expected, even 1 year down the road, plans would usual materialize.

Two years ago I was told by an executive level member of management who was under an NDA, and had just left at the time. The INC plan is to close the ASA side first then shut down the ERJ side 6 months after ASA closes. I even posted it on here back in 2016, but things weren't as clear back then to take it seriously. We had about double the pilots and a/c. So either my friend is an oracle, or it really is the master plan, because so far everything he said has come true. We'll see what happens in 6 months.
