63 cancels - 50 for crew

In all fairness, you make it seem as if this is typical or an easy task to achieve. Make sure to mention that the ILIW provides an opportunity for no more than 3 minutes. Unless you are off the night it opens and have a dedicated internet connection for this 3 minuets of hunger game type battle, you are SOL. Good line to start? If that's what you call the lines for April......ok.

So I did my time living by that ILIW. And thought it was great at the time. Then I left and you realize that you make more as a second year FO at pretty much every major out there than a 18 year captain does at XJT. Then you hit second year pay (after leaving) and get a second year schedule and hold a line and you get exactly what you would get at XJT with some good ILIW skills (15-18 days off a month) except instead of making $46 an hour as a sixth year FO (or $105 as an 18 year captain), you make $120-144 an hour as a second year FO and don’t have to go to Appleton anymore and you get the same amount of monthly time off. To each their own and if you have some reason you need to stay at a regional, nobody is standing in your way. But to suggest that the XJT schedules that you get from the line improvement window or a vacation month is superior to a legacy or major is just absurd.

At the majors, do you have the ability to advertise your trips for pilots to pick up? How much do you have to pay for someone to pick up a trip? How often do you get premium pay working on your days off? If you pick up a two day trip and fly less than an hour each way, under 150% pay you will get over 500 dollars per flight hour based on 3.75 hours min pay per day. Not great, but not bad for hardly working! Now, they are increasing premium pay to 200%.

Just the facts brother. What's sketchy about what I said? Some pilots also own businesses or do not want to fly anymore for multiple reasons. Once you are a lineholder, you have that freedom to fly as much as you like or fly once every 90 days if you advertise your trips. It's more of a challenge to advertise trips with 200% pay coming from the company which won't last past this summer. I bet we will have multiple lineholder captains rolling in over $20,000 to $30,000 this month if they are flying a lot..not bad for flying a little Barbie jet.

If you speak with the MEC, one of their number one concerns is pilot morale. According to reps that have been with the company a while, morale has never been lower.
But hey, you just keep selling “the facts”. Heck, with your interpretation of the life of a line pilot, might as well cut some costs and get rid of that trusty ole negotiating committee. Since XJT is better than the majors and all.

1. Yes we have a company paid for trade board. You can advertise any trip you want and even reserve days. Nobody pays to have something picked up.
2. Premium pay on a day off is offered more days than not. If it’s not, most people won’t pick up open time. It’s always 200%.
3, Each day pays a minimum of 5 hours or actual block, whichever is greater. Doesn’t matter what the days is, if you’re on duty, you get at least 5 hours that day regardless of if you fly.
Per your example, a two day on days off where you fly less than an hour each day would pay a minimum of 20 hours at premium pay (5 hours minimum per day at 200%). Second year FO, that’s about $2400. Make it a transcon, add another $800 to that number. Junior captains right now on fourth year pay ... about $4700 for a two day trip on days off. Make it a transcon, add another $1500 to that number.

You sure you are a line pilot for Expressjet? The picture you are painting couldn’t be more embellished.

What am I doing wrong in my life, I gotta make that lateral move!! That “flow” that he’s been wishing for must be a United to XJT flow.... All those days off at REGIONAL PAY is just the equivalent of not having a job.
