The planes are already there. Just no base. They’re also expected to go from 8 hrs of utilization to 11 hrs per day. Should be over staffed for the foreseeable future even then.

You are about to see more of those holograms at ORD because we are about to grow out 175 flying from there. And I’m not referring increased block hours. If you had any idea at all why you were talking about you would know we have just over half the 175s flying as of today. Just because they have been delivered doesn’t mean they are on the line.

Heck, on the company website is a picture from a E-175 IAH F/O doing a flight from Chicago to Palm Springs, CA.
The E-175’s are fully staffed at 14 pilots a plane. No more new hires will be going to the E-175’s.
Stop with the games, please.

I know I’m just a dumb pilot to you but N617UX is doing a revenue flight as we speak (flight 4454). There’s 8 more aircraft to be staffed.

Ok so now that you realize there are 8 more planes to field where do you think they are going? Keep in mind that all I said was that the 175 was growing in ORD. What would 8 more be, around 100% growth? Or maybe infinite growth since it’s not even a base yet? How much is the Atlanta base growing? We pass through there a lot. Oh wait, just because we fly through there doesn’t make it a base.
Do you see how silly this is? Really go back and read my original comment and ask yourself what the point of contradicting it was.

”I think the estimates are for around 2/3 of the 175 flying to end up out of ORD. So about 17 airplanes. Is that not growth? Right now the number is zero.”
Atlanta is not a hub, at least for United. It’s an outstation. Not sure why you use that as a comparison?
My point is that there’s enough pilots either trained or currently in training to staff over 30 175’s.
Yes it’s a combination of more aircraft also coming on line in addition to better utilization. Either way, with over 300 pilots the plane should be fully staffed at this point. Those sitting on reserve not flying will get used more but few if any new hires will be assigned it in training from here on out.

You said there was zero planes flying out of ORD. Is that not factually incorrect?

You are correct. We will eventually have a lot of guys rotting on reserve on the 175. There are plenty coming down the pipe.
And it is correct that there are 0 airplanes based out of ORD currently. It is not a base.
