Anyway, they are going to start interviewing college sophomores, giving them their sign on bonus and forcing them to go to their regional carriers with the promise of flying for UAL in 2 years after graduation.

Especially with the current MAX scenario, they have no incentive to hire currently qualified pilots. The point of the program is for UAL to get first pick of the guys they want while they are still in college. This will give them position above AA for first pick. Everyone else gets leftovers.

That’s the point of the program. No more. No less.
Per usual, you’re full of hot air and attempt to project things in a different light than they actually are. Envoy (American) has had the Cadet program for years now. In addition, Endeavor (Delta) has had their own career progression program into the collegiate level. Only recently within the last few months has United attempted to do anything similar.

Aviate is just a watered down and copied version of both United and Delta’s program’s. There’s nothing at all special about it.

Give it a year or two and these programs will look completely different.

Let me ask you, what do you think United thinks with how you represent their company with your pampas and crass attitude towards other pilots on here?

Don’t they still have to go to envoy and join the bottom of the seniority list to flow?

Just another negative and combative post... you complain about the negativity in here but in many ways you’re the ringmaster himself.

It’s funny how this sub forum is very quiet when you haven’t posted for days...🤔

Thank God we’ve got ALPA on the property to actually get them on point once they’re here. Koolaid drinkers are the LAST thing we want/need for our profession.

You definitely don’t have to like the guy, but he’s SPOT ON with his assessment of the program being aimed towards new talent and selecting from that group of people.

Aviate "shoot down rate" is quite high because there is basically no screening process. I'm surprised if it is even 35 percent.

OTS only invites people they want to hire and use the interview to be sure.

United and Delta don't have any problem getting very qualified applicants off the street. Americans flow program is probably more of a liability instead of a resource.

I do not understand any of the consternation about the program. If it sucks, then don't use it. People act like they deserve something.

Is it really all that surprising? Indicative of society today.
