When I started reading through the legal agreement after being accepted into Aviate I realized 70% of it didn’t apply to me. It applies to college students. The gist of it is you have to get your CFI and be at least a sophomore at a participating university. The participating universities haven’t even been announced yet. Anyway, they are going to start interviewing college sophomores, giving them their sign on bonus and forcing them to go to their regional carriers with the promise of flying for UAL in 2 years after graduation.
Especially with the current MAX scenario, they have no incentive to hire currently qualified pilots. The point of the program is for UAL to get first pick of the guys they want while they are still in college. This will give them position above AA for first pick. Everyone else gets leftovers.
That’s the point of the program. No more. No less.

Aviate is just a watered down and copied version of both United and Delta’s program’s. There’s nothing at all special about it.
Give it a year or two and these programs will look completely different.
Let me ask you, what do you think United thinks with how you represent their company with your pampas and crass attitude towards other pilots on here?

Per usual, you’re full of hot air and attempt to project things in a different light than they actually are. Envoy (American) has had the Cadet program for years now. In addition, Endeavor (Delta) has had their own career progression program into the collegiate level. Only recently within the last few months has United attempted to do anything similar.

There are many who make it through the program and end up at United. There are many people who are fantastic pilots with somewhat sour attitude towards their jobs and mostly the ones being weeded out. United knows everyone can fly , they are looking for those who can and will drink the kool aid and have a good attitude towards service to company and customer. There are also so many fantastic people that should be flying for United and aren’t. That’s just the way it is in all industries.

You definitely don’t have to like the guy, but he’s SPOT ON with his assessment of the program being aimed towards new talent and selecting from that group of people.

Aviate "shoot down rate" is quite high because there is basically no screening process. I'm surprised if it is even 35 percent.
OTS only invites people they want to hire and use the interview to be sure.
United and Delta don't have any problem getting very qualified applicants off the street. Americans flow program is probably more of a liability instead of a resource.
I do not understand any of the consternation about the program. If it sucks, then don't use it. People act like they deserve something.
