The purpose of AVIATE is the same as the CPP, get people to come to the UAX regionals, and especially XJT. Jeff/L-CAL made it such a miserable place to work, THEN made it even more miserable in the ASA buy/merge with SKW's money. XJT was hemorrhaging pilots like crazy and they needed a carrot dangle to not only keep pilots, but attract new pilots. Also, it was an attempt to make XJT's labor costs cheaper by clearing out higher longevity pilots. When version 1 of the CPP failed and morale dropped back to pre CPP levels, they came out with the "Streamlined CPP", when that didn't work it became the "Enhanced CPP" or whatever. Somehow people think that being 49% owned (or whatever) by us via the MANA Air shell game is going to fix things. Reading the email that buddy still there shared with me, management now wants concessions, UFB.
Sounds like you're finally starting to get it.
Either way, under both programs we seem to be turning down some really good people. Some simply show up unprepared, skeletons in the closet, don’t meet all of their requirements, etc, but most take it seriously and bring their A-game with the same results. I just don’t get it.

What I typed in response to your same point a month or so ago on the SAME ISSUE;
But overall, OVERALL the OTS process is good, but no system is perfect. I mean, I made it.
I’d say the CPP screened out more good employees than the OTS hired(s) those that, well, made/make us scratch our heads.
Repeating myself;
As mentioned, many of the good ones that got the TBNT in the CPP had no problem getting hired elsewhere, many places with a more thorough hiring process. And it’s not like the CPP TBNT made them have a “wow, I need to look at what I’m doing wrong" moment. They were GOOD candidates that were passed over while the other shops that hired them weren’t being a-holes.

I wasn’t that far from getting it in the past. Most of my responses were aimed at people who expressed anger at not getting selected who had issues such as not having a degree, treating the process as a formality rather than an interview, bad attitudes such as thinking that they already fly for United, Delta, etc.... Some people should be shot down. The captains who I have talked with all seem happy with the people that we have been hiring. All of the new hires seem to be doing a great job and have good attitudes. The problem is that we seem to be kicking others cut from the same cloth to the curb. We will never see the data, but I would love to see the actual percentages of rejections, both from the programs and off the street, along with the reasons for rejection.

Agreed. You should see some of the people that WERE let in via the CPP
Me too.
But your usual go to line is "well I fly with CA's that do the interviews and all the pilots that get turned down get turned for a reason blah blah blah...".
Which, of course, is true, IN SOME CASES.
But pilots have also been shot down for reasons you're only starting to acknowledge recently.

That’s okay, maybe I will turn it into a positive. Maybe I will organize or sponsor an annual TBNTer party. Maybe we should rent the TopGolf in the Woodlands for the Super Bowl or something. Bring your CPP or Aviate rejection letter to get into the venue. FOs will be $15. CAs will be free.

When I started reading through the legal agreement after being accepted into Aviate I realized 70% of it didn’t apply to me. It applies to college students. The gist of it is you have to get your CFI and be at least a sophomore at a participating university. The participating universities haven’t even been announced yet. Anyway, they are going to start interviewing college sophomores, giving them their sign on bonus and forcing them to go to their regional carriers with the promise of flying for UAL in 2 years after graduation.
Especially with the current MAX scenario, they have no incentive to hire currently qualified pilots. The point of the program is for UAL to get first pick of the guys they want while they are still in college. This will give them position above AA for first pick. Everyone else gets leftovers.
That’s the point of the program. No more. No less.
