By owning nothing they have no obligations beyond payroll. No bad debts, unfavorable leases, and/or unwanted airplanes from deals made when everyone assumed pre-WuhChu demand was durable.
They can be a nimble and cost advantaged place for mainline to shove RJs that are orphaned by other partners who have to shed them in a collateral call. Just depends if other regional operators have the cash ability to buy up the orphaned planes as other airlines shed them or whether mainline has to take them back...I suspect we will see both play out this spring/summer.

Despite all the differences between the folks on this board, the one thing that unites us all is utter disdain and complete contempt for Melit, a person who spends their free time on XJT boards trying to revenge an imaginary sleight that a random person may have said against SkyWest 2 years ago, thus condemning all of us to endure his verbal diarrhea and constant whining because our company is such a big meanie. Thank you Melit for giving us something we can all hate together

Against my better judgement, because of the old adages about reasoning with idiots and arguing with pigs, I'll address you directly. Your memory of who got canned is foggy. To clear that up, go look in the mirror. It's pretty common knowledge that you were the one canned by ExpressJet, hence your need to bloviate about them here continuously. By the way, it's Mana Air (NOT Manair) that's the majority owner, with UAL owning just under half. That may be in UAL's and XJT's best interest going forward. UAL's investment was $70M to rescue the company from SkyPest! The rest of the money came from private investors. While the future of 50 seat flying for UAL has yet to be determined, it's not out of the realm of reasonable probability that money will be found to keep the company afloat until the flying demand returns and if 50 seat flying is a part of that rebound. That money could come from the government, private investors, UAL itself, or any combination of those. What the future holds is surely uncertain at this point. But one thing is crystal clear: you don't have a clue what you are talking about!

Does Expressjet own the sims, the land, buildings, or tools?
I would be interested to hear how many weeks left of cash flow XJT has left. Any guesses? I would guess between 0 and 3. Why else would the company keep extra millions laying around? Unless United sees XJT as essential and pays for XJT to stay alive and operating. Why keep the burden of all these employees then, when they could just pay Republic and Mesa per departure?
