But did C5 mail a WARN act notice to EVERY SINGLE employee of the airline? Why would XJT management take that step, to include the CEO himself, if something more negative wasn't at least a possibility? They "hope" to rescind some letters later, but that's HR buying more time. No other airline took that step. Is XJT the new Comair?

WARN letters went to everyone? I’m seriously very sorry.

this is just posturing for another bail out. Just like united sending out 35000 yesterday. United knows good and well, they arent furloughing half their workforce. But this causes panic, and gets the media and politicians involved. Voila-another airline stimulus!

Well I for one hope their plan works out! Notices to every employee is not a good sign for the company. Why have they not offered any early retirement packages? We have a very senior pilot group that most would gladly take at this point.

Management explained in a town hall that letters would be sent to everyone strictly to satisfy reporting requirements. The union recently told them they should be more selective with these notices. I have not received one but am expecting one despite being relatively high on the seniority list for this reason. Management has been surprisingly forthcoming about their plans to handle the worst case scenario but were also clear that they did not expect that to be the most likely scenario. Of course a management group lying to their employees in order not to create a panic is not exactly without precedent but I’m comfortable giving them the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

The only thing C5 has going for it as compared to XJT is cost. We’re a much smaller airline and we never did have or manage to finish negotiations on a better contract so we’re all still making the same scraps as we were at the end of the last bust. Of course none of that really matters if UA goes bankrupt or just decides to get out of the 50 seat game as Kirby has threatened on more than one occasion recently.

Smaller airline AND a pilot group that doesn’t have pilots on the seniority list hired in the 80’s

Average Expressjet Capt pay 100+ an hour. Average C5 Capt pay 70 an hour. Hard to complete when your captains make 30% more money and your whole operation is scaled to be twice to three times the size pre covid.

Is it a possibility since ManaAir is a shell under United, that United themselves are leaning towards a write-off?

write offs are not really needed when you don’t make any money
