So out of interest, what is the value, as disgusting as this is to say, in good ole American dollars of a human life for you. For an 80 year old? For a 5 year old? Because I’m willing to bet if you then had to answer that about yourself that answer would be priceless. You don’t want to die. What makes you think anyone else would? So go on, what’s the price of your life?

So how many lives do we have to harm in order to so called “save lives”.
Then we need to ban all activities that cause people to die also? What’s next every time the flu season is bad that kills 50k-80k do we need to quarantine and close businesses for that. Cause it sure will save a few lives if you do. If we all stayed home and didn’t drive you know how many lives would be saved from car crashes?

I agree that closing businesses is/was bad. Not everyone, everywhere needed to shutter doors. Especially with no metric on how to open them up again. Honestly, it looks like it’s gonna get a lot worse when we all have to stand on our feet again and see how many businesses can’t open. I’m genuinely not looking forward to that.
Is the current reality overblown? I don’t know. History will tell. I find it amazing at how politicized it has become, however. But dang, the initial response to this is really looking bad... bad like Troy partying next to the Trojan Horse.

We had an absolute inadequate response when this kicked off. This has set off a series of each State responding independently while the Feds have thrown money at the problem hoping to save it. Zero guidance. But it’s a big country. Rules in Las Vegas NV gotta be different than rules in Las Vegas NM.

Agreed. We’re now 4 days away in an aggressively short 1 week deadline and haven’t heard anything. If we do or don’t take concessions it’ll be a union decision not a company wide vote.

Friday will come and go with no announcement and there will be posts all over the internet asking what happened to the big announcement and bad news always comes on Fridays etc etc etc.
Nobody ever said there would be an announcement on Friday in the first place. This started out with one person posting that he heard from someone else that an announcement could possibly be made as soon as the 31st. From there people turned that one stupid comment into an announcement 100% for sure coming this Friday. This is how all these stupid rumours get started. Happens every few months because pilots are apparently awful at reading comprehension.

protect junior pilots from furlough and hold the line against the company:
Keep full pay to last day. ALPA increases dues to 20% of paychecks. Junior pilots get furloughed. Senior pilots are paid the full amount by the company. ALPA gives the extra 18% to furloughed pilots.
Endgame is that the payrates never went down, but pilots are taking home what they would if they had given in to severe concessions. Furloughs allow the company to survive, pay rates are not compromised, and instead of forcing the junior pilots to act in self-interest at the expense of the industry, they are taken care of by their bretheren in unity and fraternal sacrifice.
"quit acting in your self-interest, you're hurting the industry" is a lot easier to swallow if the people saying it are making up the difference out of their own paychecks.

Lot of indirect deaths caused by lockdown. There’s a ton of missed cancer diagnosis...not to mention suicide rates. Child abuse and domestic violence skyrocketed. Kids that relied on school lunches have become malnourished. The list goes on. The harm from the lockdown way outweighs the virus itself.
