The irony is, UA is going to have both C5 and XJT get their labor groups to give massive concessions on already pitiful wages. One of them will still go away, and the other will just be there working for less. So in a perfect world, they should both hold ground and at least go out holding their heads up high.

Unfortunately that might be SkyWest. They can handle ORD and everything west of ORD, C5 could handle EWR & IAD. GoJet might fit in there somewhere.

I hate it for you guys. This industry is disgusting sometimes.

i forgot about Skywest. Kirby isn’t eliminating 50 seaters, he’s just consolidating, and giving most of it to Skywest.

One observation, Subohd likely cooked this up on his own and is using this crisis as a ploy to exact concessions from the best darn pilot group in the industry. I hate to see u guys suffer BUT please don’t fall for the oldest trick in the book. We HAVE seen this movie before: You agree to concessions and then oops . . . Commair and Expressjet will both survive. You will just have much less pay. Shame on your weak arse MEC chairman. Stay strong. Don’t fall the oldest ploy in the book.

What the hell is JM supposed to do? Wave arms and picket? Go on a hunger strike?

This company has a history of blaming UAL when it wants to screw the employees over. I wouldn’t take it at face value. I also highly doubt Kirby is the guy who drives this stuff. There’s a group of managers who make all the UAX decisions. I’m sure Kirby is aware and most certainly has to bless the decision....but I’m sure this is mostly your own CEO. You know.....the guy who USED to be the CEO of the company you now have to lowball in order to survive?

It truly is an embarrassment.

nah. The lure to become an airline pilot is strong.........ask me how I know.

It is easy to say that they should not take concessions, but to those pilots, it means their
livelihood. Some will likely lose houses as a result of losing their job. Others will end up getting divorced. It is a terrible thing.

To ExpressJet pilots...Do what is best for you and your pilot group and I wish you all the best.

i agree with you here. I used to say no to all concessions, but I think that is only a good rule for mainline. Where you’ll always have a job to come back to, and it’s your final gig. At a regional, you need to protect your paycheck. Even if you are a lifer, a concession is better than starting over at year one. Of course, as other posters have said, they can still shut you down even after taking concessions. Who knows? I’m not trying to talk anybody into anything, as everyone is capable of making their own decisions if it comes that. Just thinking out loud.

This industry is like many others. It’s all fun and games during the good years and a wild poop rollercoaster during the not so good ones.

again, I absolutely hope that doesn’t happen. Just think it’s a possibility.

I agree and I think this is more a likely scenario.

They will need a feeder that can support nation-wide operations for the smaller 50-seat market.

I think that will be XJT. Certainly Whiskey nor Commutair could fill this role. Honestly, and no offense to commutair - but you think United will put all of its chips on the 50-seat market to either of those companies?

You're forgetting that Skywest already operates over half of all the 50 seat regional flying that UAL contracts. They are getting more of those 50 seaters back as the come off of Delta service. They (Skywest) already operate over 180 CRJs for UAL.
